Journey to the British Museum

Sep 15, 2009 08:50

On my third day in London I finally made it to the British Museum. It took me a long time to get there, but thats mostly because I went on the firth photography walk I've been on in far far too long. So sit back and prepare for:

This I liked because of the angles and lines of a staircase by westferry road and Heron Quays.

Fuzzbe and I stop for a seat by the Thames on the Thames walk which runs all along the north side of the river apparently.

The view of Central London. The big egg building is I believe City Hall.

The Thames is brown.

One of the things I love is the amount of random art and sculptures there are. Not only in the form of statues, but even the buildings are beautifully constructed for the most part.

The first squirrel I saw in London. I'll put a picture up of them, but I forgot that the animals would be different over here. Half the pigeons look different, also the ducks are different. Still sound the same though. Though I don't speak duck, so they might have an accent.

Public lawn bowling green.

This door caught my attention. Why? Look close!

Interesting climbing deterrent. This one looks quite scary, though I've also seen much more decorative deterrents that just look like fancy silver things, but they have really sharp bits sticking out of them.

A Pub along The Highway, which is the name of a road/highway along the river close to the Isle of dogs.

Guys randomly posing by an overpass. It was really interesting because just on the other side of the overpass, the surroundings very suddenly became quite fancy. Big buildings and business people everywhere, or at least people in suits.

Oooh. Not actually city hall, apparently the Swiss Re Tower, as google has informed me. Though london's city hall is also apparently egg shaped.

This building is awsome. I believe its actually finished, though it looks like its under construction. I've no idea what it is, but the incredibly industrialness of it is intriguing.

A bank. I really wanted to find the bank from Marp Poppins, but its been too long since Ive seen it and I couldn't remember what it looked like.

Place I stopped at for lunch. I got a sandwhich with essentially a traditional english meal on it, complete with yorkshire pudding. In the bun.

I believe this was the London Central bank or something like that. Its right at Bank tube station.

So much nicer and classier than Museum station looks now. This is the tube stop that the British museum is closest to.

Giant giant escalators.

A very striking top of a steeple I believe it was.

Then we finally made it to he museum! Only took 3 hours. Woot!

Photos from actually inside still to come! I took lots of the egyptian stuff. Its waaay more impressive than what the ROM has.
