002: [Visual] [Location: Southeast Part of Speares] City Fails to Charm. Result? Tablet Abuse

Aug 04, 2009 14:36

If you're wandering about up North near Speares, chances are you'll see one Gwen Raiden.  Don't worry, if you don't?  You'll soon see her on the Tablet's Visual mode, when she'll accidently turn it on.

Oh, she's given up by now on trying to make conversation with the zombie-like Taxon residents.  She'd considered zapping one of them, just to get some goddamn reaction other than robot pleasantries.  But, laying low and avoiding pitchfork chases would probably be the smarter option.  Instead, she's just roaming and yes, she did notice that dot marked The Hyperion Hotel, which was one achingly familiar landmark Gwen had to fight herself not to invade.  Meeting Cordelia (again) hadn't been that bad, but she had a feeling Twiggy would be less than open, assuming she was from the same reality.  And to Gwen, the unique (though beautiful) architecture that dominates the city is just another taunting echo of "you're not in L.A anymore, sweetheart."

Her revenge?  Playing (sans gloves) with her fancy new toy.  Pretty blue sparks emit from her fingertips and cling to the front of the device . . . None of the people she'd encountered could care less about the gadget (definitely not saying much), and money seemed completely nonexistent.  But hey, if you could hatch anything you want out of your personal vending machine, she supposes currency's pretty useless.  But if she can't make money off the thing, what good is it?

She places her thumb on the Tablet.  Another jolt.  Just because.  Maybe it would send the asses of whoever was running this place down to give her a good scolding.  Then she'd have something to hit.  And the fact that this thing was completely not frying?  Not surprising, unfortunately.

"Well, golly, Taxon.  No money, [zap], the luxury of getting anything you want, [zap], citizens who are way too polite to give a damn when you steal their watches . . .This is the life I've always dreamed of, really."

Another zap of blue light.  Unbeknownst to Gwen, she has just turned the Tablet's mode to visual.  Does she realize?  Let's hope so. . .
"I mean, how is a girl supposed to get her thief on around here?"

Face, meet one electric palm.
