08 | visual | when you need not

[ The video was accidental, that much could be gathered from the angle and silence that came through it. A box was just about visible, or at least you could assume it was a box given that Helen was removing and replacing things in it - letters, photographs and objects that fit neat enough in her hand to not be visible. But what you could note of her? Recognition. Memories, as many good as were bad.

Helen paused, finally settling and stopping in her fiddling as she sat a little straighter, brushing her hair back from her face and tucking it behind her ear to read the letter that she held. A photograph slipped from it as she unfolded it, one that Helen picked up and gave a brief smile at, placing it behind the paper as she read.

It took a couple of minutes - maybe she read it more than once, who would know. But as she lowered it? Her expression changed. That calm peace was no longer there, instead replaced with surprise. It extended farther than simply there - her recognition was deeper, more intense and there was something more hidden behind it.

Pain. Sadness ]
