026: The Wild Hunt Rides [Location: Taxonia]

Dec 04, 2011 19:33

The wise and benevolent Queen of the Elves had two daughters. Although she loved them both equally, and although they loved each other just as much, the girls were as different as night and day. Her eldest daughter, the future queen, was sensible and calm and level headed. Her youngest daughter, however, was impulsive and headstrong and often got herself (and her sister) into trouble.

In order to give DG a much needed sense of purpose, the Queen charged her with the task of leading the Wild Hunt, the supernatural guards who fought to protect the fairy realm. It was the role that she had been born for. She was a fearless leader, a capable warrior and, most importantly, she never gave up.

Occasionally, the Hunt rode beyond the borders of their kingdom. Not because they needed to, but because DG had taken it upon herself to protect Taxonia with the same amount of devotion and determination. An old friend - and not an enemy, despite what was whispered in the fairy court - lived on the other side of the vale between the worlds. He had been disgraced and exiled, but DG refused to give up on him either. Even if he'd given up on himself.

The horses were as unearthly and ethereal as their riders, but the noise they made when they came to a halt in the town's central square seemed real enough.
