When the tablet flickers on it shows Kobra, looking even worse than before. The shadows under his eyes almost resemble bruises, his breathing is obviously strained and his skin clammy. He barely slept because he can't breathe if he lies down. He doesn't let any of that on though, his face as guarded as ever, stance tense ( Read more... )

Although DG had no intention of chastising Kobra for his brother's mistake, she wasn't sure what she did intend to say to him when they next until she saw how awful he looked when he switched on the tablet.

"Where are you, Kobra?" she asked, her concern palpable. "Don't do anything stupid, ok? You don't have anything to prove."

And he was clearly a lot sicker than he'd been when they'd last spoke. A lot sicker than he'd ever admit.

Kobra's expression softens the tiniest bit when DG appears on the tablet. He still trusts her and she doesn't seem intend on giving him another speech.

"I know I don't. Don't worry 'bout me, motorbaby," he says, trying to sound unconcerned and like his usual self.

"I've already told you that friends worry about each other," she pointed out, frowning slightly. And now she was worried about his health as well as the trouble he was almost certainly going to get into in the wake of what Paul had said. "You should have said something. You're getting sicker!"

"I'm not getting sicker," Kobra protested. "It's just a cold, I'm not used to these temperatures," he tried to assure her. "Really. You don't have to worry, tumbleweed. It's all good. How is your bass playing coming along?"

"Fine," she answered quickly, returning to the subject at hand whether he liked it or not. "And don't change the subject. If you're not used to them, do something to try and make them better. Where are you staying? Is it warm enough?"

"I'm fine," Kobra says again, throwing his arms up in a gesture reminiscent of his brother's usual dramatics. "You're sounding like Party now. Or...or Jet!" and fine, he's pouting now, but he's twenty odd years old, he can look after himself. Really.

"You're going to have to get used to it," she said, trying not to smile at his dramatic gestures but unable to prevent her lips from curving into a slight grin. "At least until you answer my question."

"What question?" Kobra asked, playing the 'if I ignore it long enough maybe you'll let it go' game and acting like he didn't know what she was talking about at all. Unfortunately his stoicism was broken by another coughing fit. Way to make a point, Kobra.

"Where are you staying at the moment?" she repeated, her patience starting to fray but continuing to hold. The patience that had been required to deal with Glitch when he glitched was very different to the patience required to deal with an objectionable killjoy, but she was adaptable. “Is it warm enough?”
