Today had started out like any other day, calm, quiet... and with a lot of regret that almost everyone important to her was back in Mystic Falls. Jenna couldn't deny that she'd made a few good friends here, friends she wouldn't have back home, but the reality was that the majority of her stability was... gone. She had Caroline and Rose now and while they were good company and strong against Katherine for her, they weren't Elena or Jeremy or Alaric.
The unfortunate part was that she'd learned to deal with that fact. She had what she had and she was grateful for them all the same.
So, when she turned on the tablet that day, she wasn't expecting anything familiar. She'd long ago stopped expecting something to happen. Hope was always in the back of her mind, but she knew better than to expect for it to happen. The transmission from that very familiar person, that voice she'd known for so many years, caught her off-guard. It was too soon... The aliens couldn't be that kind to her. There was no way

"Jenna?" Elena could barely believe it when she heard the voice. There was no mistaking it, it had to be Jenna but... how? Katherine had compelled her to stab herself and now she was here. It wasn't the tomb, the room was too small but... where was she? And how could she heard Jenna when she wasn't in the room?
She lifted her head, focussing on every aspect of the small room from where she was sat. Nothing. No Jenna. No anyone. She wasn't hallucinating, she knew that much... unless something had happened and this was a dream? She'd know, wouldn't she?
With compulsion Elena had no idea but she refused to believe that this was a dream - it felt too real and she needed Jenna, she needed to know that she was okay.
"Where are you?" Elena was scared. Scared that something had happened to either of them, even to someone else. So many people had died and there was a chance that more could... even her. She just didn't know anymore.

Tears of relief pricked the corners of Jenna's eyes, but she forced them back. Whatever Elena had gone through prior to her arrival, it was far more important than Jenna's own sadness.
"It's gonna sound strange, but there's a small phone-like device on a pedestal nearby," she answered, shifting her weight from where she'd been sitting on a chair at the island countertop in the kitchen. Now she was running full-tilt upstairs, where she was grabbing her shoes and heading out of there! "That's where my voice is coming from. I'm coming to get you, okay?"
Elena didn't need telling twice. Using the wall to push herself up she made her way over to the pedestal, spotting the tablet on it and... her necklace. If Katherine had compelled her to go her would she really have left her necklace? Elena wasn't certain - she doubted it - but she didn't have time to think about that... she had too much else to think about, like where they were and what had happened. If Jenna was coming to get her that meant that she'd already been to hospital and had left. How long had she been here

Oh right, the door. Jenna had forgotten that. She paused as she grabbed everything she'd need for a quick run to the Sanctuary, glancing back at her tablet, which she'd placed on the bed when she hadn't been holding it in her hand.
"We're in a city called Taxon and it's a long story." One Elena probably wouldn't like, either. No one really did. "I'll explain more when I get there. And yes, the door's supposed to do that. I think picking up the tablet triggers it." Or at least, it had when she'd arrived. "There's a map on the tablet. You'll be able to see me coming that way, better than like this. It's gonna take me a few minutes. I'm across town."

A long story? Elena had a feeling that it would be a very long story, more so to connect up what had happened last. She just had to keep reminding herself that despite whatever had happened Jenna was safe, not bleeding out and that she was safe too. It would be fine.
But... Taxon? What was that? And where was that. Keeping the tablet on her Elena saved her questions for when Jenna arrived, trying to find the map on it. It didn't take her too long, allowing her to see where Jenna was as she came. She was at home, which was weird considering that they apparently weren't in Mystic Falls. It was one more confusing thing after another. When she was confident that she knew Jenna was on her way, which she hadn't doubted from seeing her run about the house and then from her dot on the map, Elena looked to the corridor that had appeared from behind the open door. Since it looked like the only way out Elena made her way towards it, walking slowly outside the room and down the hall. This place... everything was so weird. She didn't go far,

Unfortunately, it took Jenna a while to actually get there. She could only run so fast and the Sanctuary's not exactly right next door to the house. But eventually, she hopped enough train lines to get there and followed the tablet to Elena's dot. Finally reaching the right room, Jenna stowed her tablet in her pocket - where she could be sure it would stay off - and turned to look for her niece.
"Elena?"
They had so much to talk about, so much that Jenna had to tell her, about Taxon and about what she knew of Mystic Falls. If Elena really didn't remember being here before, it was going to be a long talk.
[ location: the sanctuary ]importanttoherSeptember 17 2011, 10:54:33 UTC
At least Elena wasn't completely alone in that time - Caroline had found her transmission and had filled her in on a little, although not all of it was as good to hear as the rest. At least Caroline looked okay, although that was only slightly positive against the fact that Katherine was here. What did Jenna know about that? The whole thing was so messed up she didn't even know where to begin on thinking about it or even asking.
When she heard Jenna she turned around from the window, trying not to drop her tablet as she made her way to her in an almost run, quickly hugging her. Jenna was okay and that... seeing it for herself and not just on the tablet was a huge relief.
"What's going on?" Elena was almost afraid to let go, to look around and remind herself that they'd been kidnapped, that they all had. "Caroline told me a few things but..." What was it, how was it possible and then it went back to the Katherine thing.
[ location: the sanctuary ]auntjennaSeptember 17 2011, 14:59:37 UTC
Jenna would have to thank Caroline later. For now, she focused on the niece running towards her and the few tears she couldn't quite stop from sliding down her cheeks. All the running made her vervain necklace hop out from under her shirt. She didn't really care. If Elena noticed, it would be a great segue into vampire talk. What was important was that Elena was back. Somehow she'd come back and even without the memories of the last few months, this was more than Jenna had expected

Elena was glad that Caroline had been there for Jenna when she couldn't be, that they'd had each other and hadn't had to go through this alone - that had to be worse than just being here at all... being here alone. It was one of the things Elena loved about her - she might not always know the right thing to say but she was great at being there.
"How did you bring it? I was just there. Caroline said that you've been here for months." Months that just didn't make sense. How? That was the part that was bothering her more than being kidnapped by aliens... Caroline had said spoilers, as if she was from the future. It... would take a very long time.
[ location: the sanctuary ]auntjennaSeptember 17 2011, 18:24:13 UTC
"It's..." Jenna sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I have no idea how I brought it. It just... appeared here when I did. The aliens seem to like to give us something from home. Mine was... the whole house apparently."
She still didn't know how that worked. Not that she was going to complain too much because having the house there meant a lot to her. It was a comfort she couldn't even begin to describe.
"I've been here since May. It's September now. And... some people remember more from their homes than others."
Jenna shrugged, utterly helpless about how all that worked. And she really hated being helpless.
"Hey, do you want to walk while we talk? It might be a little better to talk there... safer."
Safer from Katherine was what she wanted to say, but wasn't sure she dared.
[ location: the sanctuary ]importanttoherSeptember 19 2011, 11:18:41 UTC
September? But it wasn't September before she got here. She wasn't even sure if her original theory fitted anymore.
"Yeah, at least I can see where I've been kidnapped too as well." Elena wanted to ask why it would be safer but that wasn't really something she was daring to yet. She knew that Katherine was here but... she didn't want to open that can of words.

Jenna nodded in response and turned to lead the way, making sure Elena was sticking close to her. The last thing she needed was for her niece to somehow get separated from her in the middle of the city.
"I've..." She paused for a breath. That was a loaded question. A lot of things had been happening here. "I've been working mostly. At a bar for a guy named Fitz. Oddly enough, there's actually sort of a money system here."
Once outside, she again checked to make sure Elena was okay. The city sprawled away out in front of them, buildings as far as the eye could see. Jenna knew that somewhere out in the distance was the barrier around the city, but it was so far away and so well hidden that it couldn't be seen.
"Welcome to Taxon, Elena. We'll have to take one of the train lines, but it's not too long a ride."

"You'd think that if people kidnapped us things would be free. This is starting to sound more like a reality show." Not that she'd watched one for a while with being ridiculously busy. But the working part sounded normal at least, and simple. Normal work rather than anything insane and alien was good.
"You'd think that they'd keep the city looking the same." It was a little mismatched, especially with the tall buildings really far in the distance. Although if home was here - which she was only half believing until she actually saw it for herself then... she wasn't actually certain

"Well, they do give us a set amount of credits per month, but it doesn't cover everything," Jenna admitted, leading the way to the closest train line. She raised her eyebrows and offered a shrug. "Well, they did keep us locked in the Sanctuary for almost a month while they rearranged the entire city recently. Be glad you missed that." For more than one reason

"Are there any vacancies at the bar?" It definitely wasn't ideal but it would give her something to do rather than sit around and just think about being kidnapped or home... Stefan, Bonnie and Jeremy were there and they were just stuck here. She couldn't just sit there.
Taking Jenna's hand Elena gave a look around it, choosing somewhere for them to sit. As weird as it was, even as dangerous as it could get she just had to remember that she wasn't alone. It was something that could keep her sane, and maybe finally make her tell the truth. Jenna seemed to have handled being here fine... maybe she could handle everything.
"I didn't know whether to mention it. I'd have probably found out even if Caroline hadn't said anything. When did I leave?"
