It's been a couple days since the attack and her phone call to Don, and Mattie's feeling better physically, but still a little wrung out emotionally. Mostly that manifests in being very quiet and trying convince Don to let her cook meals for him, and a noticeable absence of tiny sternfaces. There's a lot on her mind, however, and one or two ( Read more... )

"Well... the vampires from my world are afraid of crosses, holy symbols, a-and holy water really hurts. So, if you have any of those nearby, they make really good weapons." She pauses to think of what else.

"Also, if you look in a mirror, they don't have a reflection."

"I have heard crosses and holy water from others as well, it seems to me these must be the best defenses." She's going to ask permission to use Don's hatch immediately, now that she has confirmation on the usefulness of those items.

"I think I would prefer not to let one get so close to me as to be able to test it in a mirror."

"That's probably for the best. Some of them aren't very friendly."

She frowns worriedly, looking over Mattie's form as best she can through the transmission. "Are you okay? Do you need anything?"

Mattie just looks at Willow. As far as she's been able to tell, vampires are extremely unfriendly. Of course, she also doesn't know that she's met any of the less bitey types.

"No, thank you, I am staying with Mr. Draper right now and he has been very watchful."

Hey, she's met some nice ones before! So she just shrugs.

"Good. That's good. That you have someone to watch over you, I mean. Friends are good. They're helpful. And friendly. And I should probably stop talking..."

"I do not have very many friends, but the ones I have are good ones." There's no self-pity there, Mattie is pretty critical of people and thus doesn't really collect friends in quantity.

"That's good, then," Willow answers, stumbling nervously over her words. "That you have good friends. I mean, sometimes just having a small, close group of friends is better than... y'know, a large one where you don't really know anyone."

So said Cordelia and Buffy at one point. Willow never really... had that problem. She was always on the small and good side of the friend thing.

"If you do not know them, how can you call them friends?" This isn't meant to be judgmental, Mattie's just never been in a situation to have even a few friends until coming to Taxon, and she can't conceive of living in a group of people where she didn't really know them all. Yell County is not a very populous sort of place.

Willow shrugs. "I have no idea. I never did anything like that. That's just how some of the popular crowd ended up feeling at my high school... or so I was told once."

Once way back when Cordelia was still being a brat. For the first time in a long time, Willow feels the familiar twitch of longing. Everyone's disappearing all over the place and she doesn't like it.
