[location: the stack house] time isn't wasted when you're getting wasted

Jason Stackhouse had never been to college unless one counted a semester at tech school a university experience. He had however, watched plenty of movies that (many of them inaccurate) depicted college. This party was a new experience for Jason and he was damn well going to get it right.

The party would take place outside on the lawn in front of ( Read more... )

Mattie would never have come down this street if she'd imagined that she would run into what appears to be some kind of drunken, debauched party. Probably by members of some strange cult, if the clothing and decor are anything to go by.

Maybe this is normal for Taxon, though. And they do look like they're having fun, despite the noise...

She decides to have a closer look. No beer, of course, or whatever those vile looking green beverages are. But it's important to make contacts when in a strange place.

She can't quite keep the what in God's name? expression off her face, though.

When Jason sees Mattie his mind begins to panic. Why is there a girl here and how did she even know about this party?

He walks over to her, intent that he get to her before something terrible happens. Yet when he does reach her, he has no idea what to say. He chooses to go with something that he wants to know anyway.

"You lost?"

"No, I am not lost, I just wanted to see the decorations." If Mattie sounds a bit defensive, it's because she is. She didn't know it was a private party, and anyway she's only looking.

She can't help adding a question of her own, though, because it's been nagging at her. "Did something happen to your clothes?"

It's far from a private party, but Mattie is a minor and as the host he feels responsible for her.

"No," he says, in as much of a matter of fact manner as Jason Stackhouse ever musters, "I'm wearin' a toga."

Jason has very little to worry about, Mattie would never indulge and might in fact lecture anyone who happens by and looks like they've been indulging too much themselves.

"Well it is ridiculous and looks like a sheet. Why are you wearing it instead of regular clothes like any sane person would?"

"I ain't insane," Jason replies a bit too hastily. "There're different kinds of parties, and this is the kind where you celebrate by wearing a toga." As if there were to end the debate, Jason tugs on his own garment at the chest.
