Ianto's stood behind the desk in the tourist office they usually use as a front, flipping idly through a dusty file. Ordinarily he'd be in the small office he has behind the beaded curtain, or even down in the Archives somewhere. Today, however, he feels like a change of scenery. He could be down in the Hub, but even with Jack down there it's too quiet. He's used to the tourist office being quiet, though. And even now this area feels much more his domain than the main part of the Hub ever has. It would almost be comforting if it weren't for the fact they're pretty much stuck here.
He sighs, flipping the file shut and reaching for some outdated leaflets that were standard handouts for Torchwood employees at one time. Unfortunately, that time was the fifties. Ianto hadn't even been born by the time they were deemed old fashioned and pretty much useless.
"You'd have thought," he mutters, more to himself than anyone else, "that with hundreds of years worth of files, there'd be something useful here."
He frowns at the leaflet in his hand as though willing it to suddenly contain useful information. "I think I'd have better luck flipping through the leaflets we have on Cardiff Castle than I've had with anything in the Archives."
What's slightly more worrying is that he'd actually consider doing that at this stage. He shakes his head and flips open the leaflet entitled 'A TORCHWOOD EMPLOYEES GUIDE ON HOW TO DEAL WITH BEING TRANSPORTED TO ALTERNATE UNIVERSES'. He hasn't actually read this one before. Although there do seem to be people from different universes, he's not entirely convinced this will help. That, and he'd only discovered this particular leaflet this morning, wedged down the side of entirely the wrong cabinet. Incidents like that often leave Ianto wondering of how skilled Torchwood Three's past Archivists have actually been.
"Don't panic," he reads aloud. He pauses, considering. "Douglas Adams... wonder if he ever had a run in with Torchwood."
