Hi, everyone. Fred Burkle here. I'm trying to gather information about everyone, so I can get a good idea how our real population is put together. I'm hoping that with this data, we can work out why we're all here, and maybe extrapolate patterns for staying, for glitching, etc, from there. I'll hold onto the raw data myself, for the sake of ( Read more... )

To start off, please give me your:
Age? 25
Gender? Female
Species? ...human. Definitely.

1. How long have you been here in Taxon? Seven months now.

2. What is your home world/dimension/universe like? Any unique details would be appreciated. It was... normal, like your everyday San Francisco. Although there are a lot of supernatural occurrences that I've only recently become aware of.

3. Do you have any special abilities or characteristics (anything unusual for your world)? I'm a witch. I can... recite and write spells, brew potions, the whole nine yards.

4. What sort of job did you have back home, and what do you do here? I'm a chef back home and here as well.

5. How many people from your dimension are also here, right now? None.

6. Have you ever talked with the 'hamsters'? If so, what have they said? No.

7. How many times have you been glitched? Not yet, thank goodness.

8. What have you been glitched with, and how long did each glitch last? N/A

9. On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 meaning you hate it more than anything ( ... )

Thanks very much for answering this! If I could ask- are witches extremely rare in your world, or do they happen occasionally? They seem to be around sometimes in my world, but their existence isn't common knowledge.

I haven't been glitched yet, either. I'm sort of worried about when it'll happen, if they're waiting to give me a big one or something.

Brownies it is, by the way! Mmm, now I'm hungry for them.

Well, almost all the women in my family are witches, if I remember correctly. And I've come to realize that a lot of people do practice magic back home, and I've encountered both practitioners of white and black magic on several occasions. We usually call those who use their powers for their own personal gain warlocks.

Me too, but... I don't want to dwell on it too much. Not that it means I'm not worried what will happen to me if I ever do get glitched, because I am. But I guess we can both be grateful we have yet to experience it.

We can swap recipes, if you like?

Sounds like we've got somewhere similar amounts of magic in both our worlds.

I'm finding out a lot of people have been here for awhile and haven't been glitched, actually, so maybe it's not so strange after all.

Oh, sure! Mine's pretty generic, though- well, other than that I'm probably going to add some chocolate chips. That should go good, right? I mean, it's just more chocolate, and I've never found anything ruined by adding chocolate.

It does sound good, although I prefer to add a mixture of dark and sweet chocolate to my brownie recipe, just so the result won't be too cloyingly sweet.

Oooh! Dark chocolate. Yes, that sounds perfect. I might have to use the semi-sweets with the chips. Or maybe even dark ones. See, now I'm glad I asked. You know these things.

It's always best to experiment, I think. Bake a few small batches with different ingredients, and then have someone else judge which batch is the best. I used to have my sisters do the judging for me, back home.

Very good idea. I think I'll try that- we tend to have people around the Hyperion at all hours. They can be my guinea pigs.

I'm sure you're probably busy, but if you ever want to come over for a taste test, feel free. Just don't come over when Cordelia's trying to bake- she combines things that should never be combined, and that's coming from someone who once tried ice cream in tacos.

[ she chuckles at that. ] Ice cream with tacos. That's... pretty interesting.

I'm sure your friend just needs a little time to practice, that's all.

It was! Not really something I want to repeat ever, though.

You might be right. But it'd be a lot of time.

It's probably because the taco's slight saltiness doesn't blend well with the sweetness of the ice cream. You've pretty much given me a new idea to try here, Miss Burkle. Thank you.

And, well, if Cordelia really needs help with her skills, then I'll be happy to help.

I have? That's both exciting and a little bit ominous. But I just bet you'd be able to make it work.

I'm not certain how often that baking bug is going to bite her, but I'll make sure she knows. Thanks again.
