Spike's driving somewhere, though from the tablet's vantage point it isn't clear where he's going. The inside of the car might be familiar to some as Angel's viper, the one car he favors above all. And Spike's behind the wheel

Extra-extra special that involves I know where he keeps the keys and he's too busy staring at his non-existent reflection and perfecting his brooding scowl to protect them.
And people don't get why she's into the whole bad boy thing. This is why. Not that she approves of this, because she doesn't. And maybe she'll try to persuade Spike to return the car at some point - but in the meantime she can er... keep an eye on the situation. From the passenger seat.
She pulls the door open and slides in, unable to keep from smiling at Spike's use of the word 'gorgeous'. "Remember there was tutting," she says, as she pulls the safety belt across her chest. "So where are you taking me? Or is this just cruising of the aimless variety?"
Spike will return the car. He's just enjoying the one silver lining of the whole Angel mess.
Unfortunately, this date will probably suck. Spike shoots her a smile as she climbs in, but his hands are gripping the steering wheel pretty tightly, and he can't help but wonder if she's talked to Angel. He's pretty sure she wouldn't lead him on if the two of them had gotten back together again. And it is just a glitch, she'd know that. It doesn't make him any less worried.
His options are to actually discuss his issues or lose himself in Buffy for a while. He chooses the latter. He starts driving again.
"Well, I'd just been cruising aimlessly, enjoying how amazingly the car handles, but we can actually go somewhere if you'd like. I just don't know where."

Buffy isn't entirely oblivious, and she can tell that Spike is tense. She's pretty tense herself, between one thing and another. Well, mostly one thing - an Angel-shaped thing, to be specific. She's been trying not to think about it, adopting a 'head in the sand' policy. If she just keeps away from Angel as best she can, soon the glitch will wear off and everything will be normal again. It hasn't been working terribly well, however.
"Well I'd suggest Caritas, but it's my night off, and I don't wanna be one of those people who hangs out where they work all the time. You know the type. Plus Cordelia might be there, and I'd rather not have to make the world's most awkward small-talk two nights in a row."
Oh dear, it looks like she just broached the subject.

He glances over at her, like he's about to say something about that, then changes his mind. "Well, there's got to be other bars around here, right? I haven't really looked for others, but people have to have gone somewhere before Lorne showed up, right?"

Spike doesn't want to talk about that elephant. He's too worried about what she might say. Maybe he's being ridiculous, but he remembers how they were with each other in the past, and Buffy kissing Angel when he showed up in Sunnydale with Spike's necklace, and Angelus coming back to them and Drusilla immediately going to his side, and telling Angelus he thought Drusilla was his destiny and Angelus immediately sleeping with her because he could. Angel's his friend now, even though they rarely admit it even in private. But the Angel they're dealing with now isn't his friend. Turns out Spike didn't miss the constant fights to the death after all.
"Nothing to talk about," he says quietly, not looking up at her. "It's a glitch. He'll get over it. I can go back from not liking him to not liking him."

Buffy can see through Spike's nonchalance act all too easily - not that he's being particularly convincing. Of course it's crossed her mind that Spike might be feeling jealous, or even thinking that she'd run back to Angel at the first opportunity. She's given him plenty of reasons to think she'd do that in the past, after all. This isn't a conversation she wants to have while Spike's driving, however. She needs him to look at her.
"Pull over, Spike." She says, gently. It's not a question, but it's not exactly a command either. It's more of a request.

Spike's barely convincing at all, and he isn't even a little surprised that she could tell. He just had to make a token effort. He nods at her request and drives to the side of the road. He parks and looks over at her, trying not to look as upset as he feels.

There are probably a million more delicate ways that she could word this question, but the fact is: she doesn't know what's inside Spike's head. She can only guess, and there's no point dancing around the... well, point. She purses her lips in silence for a moment, watching him.
"Are you worried that I'm swooning all over Time-Warp Angel?"

That is only part of the reason this glitch is upsetting him so much, but it's a pretty big part. They've only just started seeing each other, if they can even call it that yet. He's waited too long to have Angel tear it all away from him.
Nice wheels.

"Spike, we should probably talk about the elephant in the car."
She made a pun? It's funny. So it's not awkward. Maybe.
