Believe it or not, Castle Summers has a well stocked library, though when it shows up on the tablets it looks a bit like it's been hit by an extremely localized tornado. There's a pile of books in the middle of the room, some open and some closed with a few sprinkled on top that look as if at some point in time they'd been journals, with a River

Spike isn't quite sure what to make of this dance. It's a lot weirder than most of the dances he's seen. And the song's got odd lyrics. It makes him think of Drusilla.

He applauds at the end and smiles at the screen. "Nice moves, pet."

"There were strings," River says, but it sounds like she's smiling. It's been a long, long time since she's been applauded for a dance recital.

Spike tilts his head curiously. "Strings?"

"Involuntary movement dictated by the presence of a contagion of unknown origin. We are plagued."

The good news is she sounds pretty okay with the idea.

"Oh yeah, that. Happened to me twice already. And that's just since I came here." Just in case she happened to miss the show. Spike needed to figure out how to make his tablet not go off accidentally.

River just looks at him for a long moment. The displays were pretty hard to miss. "You have destructive tendencies," meaning both Cordelia's desk and Buffy's relationship.

He can't really argue that. "I'm working on being better about that." It really wasn't his intention to destroy either Cordelia's desk or Buffy's relationship. He wants her to be happy. And he was actually trying to destroy Angel's face, not Cordelia's desk. Big difference.

Huge difference, she's sure.

"They say there's twelve steps," she says, opening one of the books nearby to flip through it's pages. "Steps, stages, signs. All point in the same direction but never at each other and you wonder why they don't speak."

Spike tilts his head, glancing at the books. "Twelve steps of what? What are you looking for?"

[Visual]

"Steps aren't mine, but there is nothing here to substantiate the claim." A beat passes, and ends with River slamming the book shut. "It's empty."

Spike sits back and shrugs. "Fair enough. Try another book, maybe?"

That suggestion gets a look as River tilts the tablet to show the rest of the pile she's in. "They're unsuitable."

Spike nods. "Fair enough. Have you ever talked to Drusilla?"

[Visual]

"Met, but she was late," and she doesn't look particularly happy about it. Probably because their first meeting was the same day River had to fight Angelus while Drusilla was his accomplice.
