[ location • royal chambers ] ~ the charms of our idle days

Life in the Royal Chambers at Taxon is an easy adjustment for Guinevere aside from a few things.

For one there is the matter of the Extras helping to keep things functioning around the palace. Sure, they are helpful and perform the tasks exactly as they are explained to them, nothing more and nothing less, but seeing them float from room to room does very little to put her at ease. She has adopted Morgana’s stance on them; she did not trust them, and did as much as she could on her own without their assistance.

Second, there is the technology, for every now and then Guinevere walks into a part of the Chambers she has not been to in Taxon just yet and finds a hatch in a wall. Or, when she is minding her own business folding clothes someone’s voice comes out of nowhere over the tablet at her wrist. The tablet itself is a mystery to her that has yet to be completely solved or understood, but she’s made some headway getting acquainted with the functions with some outside assistance. They still are daunting, magical things that she chooses only to use when absolutely necessary, however.

The third, and arguably the most difficult for her to become comfortable with, is the free time. Back in Camelot the only time Guinevere could relax and care for naught but her own was when she was at home. Here this was her home, and there was only Morgana, who practically insisted she treated the Chambers as her own, and Arthur, who never once insisted she pay face to him in the entirety of their acquaintance. There were no nobles to tend to, no floors to clean or laundry to tend to when the minimal crew of Extras had most of it under control. Once assisting Morgana in the morning is complete the day is hers and she hardly knows what to do with herself.

"Did you need anything else?" she asks Morgana before taking her leave, though she very well knows there is little.
