[Accidental Visual]/[Location | Tamper and Trick] On My Own

May 09, 2010 00:46

Tara's in the shop, but she hasn't properly opened yet. She hasn't seen Ethan for a full day, and when she went to call him, the tablet said he was no longer anywhere in Taxon. A minor location spell confirmed it. Her next move, of course, was to call Giles - only to find that Giles is gone too. Losing them both feels particularly unfair to her - the Giles and Ethan she'd come to know here in Taxon, and the Giles she knew and loved from home, all gone without a word of warning. She's had little love for their captors from day one, for glitching Angel into Angelus, but this time she feels more personally injured. She knows it's silly. She's not the only one who'll miss them (well, not Giles, at least). But it still hurts.

The tablets, these days, must be voice activated, because hers turns on just as the music begins to swell. She's in the middle of the shop, sweeping up with a broom, when it begins (something like the tune of the Beatles' "For No One").

This morning, no warning
I find my friends are gone and I am left alone -
A shop to run without them

Not so bad, I’m just sad
I’ve still got others who I care about and love
I’ll get by without them

But then I can’t help but wonder
Why were they taken from us now
Do our captors
Have things they will and won’t allow?

These glitches, time switches
They don’t have any sort of reason, I can’t think of why
They seem to start them

Here Tara does a small dance, using the broom as a prop, as if it were a stand in for an absent dance partner. Then the chorus resumes:

And now I can’t help but wonder
If there is any why or how?
Do the hamsters
Obey laws, rules or any vows?

I can’t win, my head spins
I try to think about how I can help, but I can’t see
The way to do it.

They run on, my words gone
There are these times when all I want to do is stop it all
Before my heart splits.

But all of this doesn’t matter
In Taxon, there’s nothing to do
But try and go on
With friends left, try to make it through.

When the song ends, she resolves to go and see if Buffy knows Giles is gone yet. But as she comes over to her tablet, she finds its on already.

Blushing deeply, Tara says to Taxon at large, "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to b-broadcast that." At least the glitch is widespread enough the singing and dancing doesn't need extra explanation. "Oh, and... for people who knew him... Giles has gone home, it looks like." Because he has to be back home. Any other explanation she can't bear to think about.
