Finally, the healing trance ends.
The Doctor flips on the tablet. For the first time since arriving in Taxon, he's not in his typical suit, he's exchanged it for a loose sweater that fits him a bit awkwardly. He's on Rose's bed in the house, and his face is still a bit black and blue from the earlier fight with the Master, though he's healed quite quickly. He's also not running around in his normal fashion, he's sitting fairly still. If he moves too quickly, he'll wince.
Suddenly, music in the background begins to swell.
For those of you who know music of the 20th century, you might recognize it as the opening bars for ♫
All By Myself♫, the most tragically over-dramatic song about loneliness imaginable. The Doctor recognizes it, too, and the disgust on his face is pretty readable. The music swells dramatically, and he feels attached to the music, despite himself. Without warning, he opens his mouth and says:
"No, stop that. Stop it right now."
As though a hand had been slapped on a vinyl, the music stops abruptly.
He snorts.
"Now, due to extenuating circumstances, I'm not going to be at the work site for the next few days, but if anyone can give me some money-credit things for microwaves, I'd appreciate it."
To everyone who helped him after the duel, sorry. He's not very good at saying extremely complicated things like 'thank you'.
