Just another day flying between jobs. A little crime here, some funny stories there, no one fighting or arguing (at least not any more than usual), everyone coming and going about their business--an all around peaceful, normal day aboard Serenity.
So how, Kaylee’s wondering to herself, did she go from repainting flowers in the kitchen to reaching up at nothing in seamless silver room? “Ai ya, normal this ain’t.”
She lowers her empty hand, curious as to just where her paintbrush has gone to, before looking around the chamber. Nothing here, nothing there (didn’t anyone ever teach these folks anything about cheering up a room?), and only a small table with a tablet on top over there.
“Xi niu...I really hope this ain’t your guys’s idea of a prank, Cap’n? Wash?” No, of course there’s no answer. Leave it to Mal... “ Cap’n, if this is a joke, it really ain’t all that appreciated!”
Not even a hint of an answer? She looks back to the tablet before moving over to inspect it. The thing looks harmless enough. “Don’t gotta pick it up,” she says aloud, for reassurance sake. “I swear, Cap’n!! If this shoots water or somethin’ at me...”
Tentatively, she touches it--nothing bad so far. Kaylee reaches out to pick it up, and jumps back as the door opens.
“Can’t we ever just have a normal day?’
