Well, that had gone well. Cassie exited the nest, not crying as much or as often anymore, but definitely down in the dumps. Not only was Billy gone, but she didn't think and said a bunch of shit that made the hundreds upon hundreds year old vampires get emo. So, totally, not her intention. Not even a little bit

He glanced around and caught sight of a fairly familiar form. She was pretty much the only person he'd interacted with at length since he'd arrived. And he worried about her recovery. Both of these things might have been why he approached. A rock came rolling towards him from her direction, which he stopped with one foot.
"Bad day?" He guessed.

"One of my friends left today," Cassie said softly, giving him her version of the puppy eyes. "Sometimes people disappear and this time it was someone I care about."

"I'm sorry." He said simply, reaching out and lightly touching her arm. He wasn't very good at this, or at least, hadn't been in the past. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

She's not trying to use you as a replacement, Lassie, honest. It's just that she doesn't want to be alone right now.

"Sure. Your place or mine?" Yes, he'd taken her advice and found a nice placed and hatched all the things a man could want for his very own bachelor pad.

He'd taken advice. This is cause for celebration. Popcorn and nachos for the movie! This must be done. "We could go there...if you wanted."

"One condition. You can't make fun of my decorating. A lot of the stuff was there when I got there and I haven't had the time to use the hatches enough to make it my own." He gave her a small smile and even a wink. "Any movie in mind?" He added as they walked towards the nearest tram station.

When his hand pressed against her back, she began to walk, falling into step beside him. "I won't make fun," Cassie promised, shaking her head. "I don't know...."

He really wasn't good at this.

Seriously. He could request The Devil Wears Prada and she wouldn't even flinch.

"What about you?" He tossed her own question back at her because he couldn't think of a better one. Plus, he wanted to keep her talking. Lassiter was worried about her. Hopefully, the movie and some time to get away from her problems would help lift her spirits.

"We could watch Blazing Saddles," Cassie suggested. That was really the closest thing to a western, that she'd ever watched. It was doubtful that Cassie would laugh during it, but still. It's a movie.

"This way." He said, in case she didn't know. He started walking again. Already, he could see the station, which meant the small house was just a block or so beyond.

Cassie stood automatically, half a moment after Lassiter did, following him off the tram. They walked down the middle of the street, with only one or two cars, there really wasn't any need to worry about traffic.
As they made their way through the silent neighborhood, Cassie's hand shifted a little, reaching for Lassiter's. She wanted to make sure he was still there. That he wasn't leaving anytime soon. She'd had too many people leave her in her short life.

Cassie climbed the steps beside him, entering the modest-sized home, looking around absently. It was easy to see that a man lived there. But that wasn't a bad thing.
She reluctantly released his hand, heading towards the nearest hatch and grabbing Blazing Saddles, along with a couple John Wayne westerns that she'd watched with her dad when she was little-little. And a blanket.
