[Visual, Locked to Cassie]

Nov 19, 2009 12:24

There were two reason Godric was calling Cassie. The first was just to check in on her and make sure she was recovering, and the second was to address the issue Eric had brought up the night before. He was somewhat worried he was going to wake Cassie. She needed her rest, and he wouldn't have been surprised if she had gone to bed just after he ( Read more... )

"Barely," Cassie replied quietly.

She was laying on her stomach in bed, the covers pulled up to the middle of her back. The previous night, she'd fought like the dickens to get out of the rest of her clothes, leaving her just in her boyshorts. Cassie reached over for the tablet, squinting an eye open to look at the tablet screen, seeing Godric's concerned face looking back at her.

"'sup, 'ric?" Cassie murmured, a little on the tired side. She ached all over, and she knew that when she did get up to shower, she'd be taking a bath instead. Standing for a long time is bad.

"How are you feeling?" It was fairly obvious she was groggy and tired and not yet well, but Godric wanted specifics. Mentally, he was making a list of things Cassie should eat to speed her recovery. He was also internally wincing at the nickname Cassie had just given him.

"Like I got hit by a bus...and then stabbed by it. And then run over," Cassie replied, holding the tablet up by her head. From the angle of the tablet, there was the top of Cassie's head, followed by a fair expanse of skin, mostly at shoulder level and a little lower. There was a scar on the shoulder nearest to the tablet, one given to her by a certain evil 'My Buddy' doll.

"Did you find him?" Cassie asked.

Godric was momentarily distracted by the expanse of smooth flesh, but Cassie's question brought him back to focus. He frowned darkly at the thought of his failure.

"No. I followed his scent, but it would disappear and reappear randomly. We were going in circles and eventually we lost it completely." He could still smell it, taunting him.

"Well, fuck," Cassie sighed. Something from last night jogged her memory and she made an 'oh yeah!' sound. "He could teleport," Cassie said quietly. "He did it once or twice when we were fighting."

"That would certainly explain it." He was neither surprised nor in disbelief that someone had such an ability in Taxon. Unfortunately, it made his prey not only more difficult to find, but more difficult to capture. Still, Godric was keeping an eye out. Or a nose, rather.

"Have you eaten anything?" Back to the subject of Cassie's health, which was the more important thing, after all.

"'s the only way that fucker could sneak up on me. Especially in the dark," Cassie said, to cushion her pride.

"Not yet. Might take me a while to get downstairs," she admitted with a weak chuckle.

"Take your time, but you should eat. Dark, leafy greens are best for blood loss." Something having to do with iron levels. This was about the extent of his knowledge of modern human cuisine.

He wasn't sure how best to broach the subject of glamouring, especially considering Cassie's current state. He had no idea if she even had the energy for a long conversation.

Cassie nodded slowly. "I'll be sure to remember that. Whenever I get to a hatch, or downstairs. Whichever's closer." That kind of didn't make sense, Cassie.

"So...how're you doing?" Cassie asked, a small giggle escaping her. What the hell do you ask a vampire to keep the conversation going? 'Did I taste good?'

It was always interesting, asking a vampire how he was doing. The answer was almost never health-related, save for the rare instance of Hep D.

"I'm well." By which he meant nothing bad was happening and he wasn't upset or angry about anything in particular. See? Not health-related. "A little concerned, perhaps. Eric tells me you were upset about a vampire's ability to glamour."

That was about the smoothest transition he was going to get without Cassie bringing it up herself.

"Good," Cassie nodded, still a little on the tired side.

The mentioning of glamouring, however, woke Cassie up right away. "Well, yeah. Maybe a little," Cassie said, as nonchalantly as she could. "It just seems fucked up."

"Whether or not it's morally objectionable, all vampires possess the ability. It isn't something we can help." Godric had often debated the integrity of glamouring, but with much less seriousness than he did with other vampiric issues. His final conclusion was that it was too useful to have, at times, to regret having it, but that it should be used sparingly. Which, frankly, was how he'd almost always used it anyway.

"Do you know how he brought it up? He was getting bossy on my having to get something to eat even though I wasn't hungry and he said he could make me eat," Cassie scoffed.

"Now, I dunno about you, but that's creepy. I don't want anyone to force me to do anything. So I panicked, and hung up."

Oh, Eric. You're so you. And Cassie, that explanation was so wonderfully biased.

"Cassie...I do hope you realize that Eric isn't a meek and conciliatory person," he teased. "You can hardly be surprised by threats when you refuse to cooperate with his plans. But he's never used it on you." That much, Godric was absolutely sure of.

Cassie pouted a little, rolling onto her back slowly, the covers, magically, keeping anything X-Rated out of sight. "Well, he just needs to learn that not everyone's going to do what he says," Cassie replied, rolling her eyes.

"Are you sure?" Cassie added quietly, looking up at the tablet, giving Godric her version of puppy eyes.

Godric laughed at that. "If he hasn't learned in the last thousand years, I doubt there's much hope."

Besides, most people did end up doing what Eric said. So teaching Eric that not everyone would was like teaching Eric science fiction.

"Absolutely sure," he responded more soberly. He was sure because he'd asked Eric, and Eric had said no. Eric would never lie to Godric. He might sometimes try to avoid answering, but lie? No.
