Abby stumbled into her lab, closing the door with her foot before letting out a long sob of pain. God, she'd been holding that in since the alley, terrified that the green beast would hear her and come back. She fell against the wall, gasping as her shoulder was jarred. It was dislocated. She knew the practical ways to put it back in place, but

[Oh, look, Dean is being a hero. Well, and deep down, he can't let a lady be in distress. Goes against his moral codes and all that.]

"I'm fine. Just a little shaken up. Thanks." She leaned her head back against the wall and concentrated on keeping herself still. She was about as close to the door as she could have possibly managed. Thank god for small favors.

"Hey. Name's Dean, guy from the tablet. You said it's just a dislocated shoulder?"
Reply
"Abby." She offered her name is reply. "Yeah, the left one." She was holding it awkwardly. "I know the logistics of how to get it back in, but having never done it before. Well." She trailed off and looked up at him.

"Yeah, it's gonna hurt pushing this back in," Dean replies, and he presses his palm to her shoulder, holding her arm. "You ready?"
Reply
"Just do it." Her teeth were gritted, the words sliding out between the small spaces. Her free hand gripped at her dress - the Halloween costume, but it was dirty now.

"Alright, on three. One. Two." Crack, and Dean pops Abby's shoulder back into place before stepping back, just in case.
"Three." He finishes, and there might be a bit of a grin on his face. What a jackass.

After a moment, she managed to look up at him. He was smiling, proud of himself. Abby was grateful, though, and even though she thought he looked a little too enthused at her pain, she wouldn't deny how nice it felt to know that it was settled.
"Thanks." She said it more properly this time, slowly pushing herself up off the ground. She winced as she moved, not sure how to compensate for the wounded joint just yet.

"Not a problem. Be careful on that," He adds, gesturing to her arm. "Probably gonna be sore. So watch out."
There's a slight pause, and then:
"How the hell'd you manage that, by the way?"

"I was, I was out at the Halloween party. I came outside to find my friend and this, this thing was out there. Huge, green. I don't know what it was. I tried to run, but it came after me. I slammed into a telephone pole before ducking into an alley. Hid there until it was far enough away and came straight here." She let out a shaky breath. "Is this kind of stuff normal. You know, around here?"

"Huge green thing?" Dean is intrigued. But that will have to wait a minute; he's not sure he wants to go and get his ass kicked right after the whole vampire thing. He needs backup. And to make sure Mary isn't going to try to help. "Yeah, sort of. We've had baddies running around here since day one. Nothing huge and green, though."

"How? You know what? I don't want to know." She adjusted her ice pack. "Nothing makes sense her. Everything outside of this lab is just. Bullshit." She could feel herself getting worked up. Maybe it was still the pain or the trauma. She hadn't let herself realize everything that was happening. Now that it was finally sinking in, she could feel a bit of panic.
Her breathing became a little erratic. She started to pace. Hello, panic attack.

But she's panicking, and actually, Dean's used to this too. Plenty of the people he's saved over the years have freaked out about this kind of stuff, and while he's not much better at calming people down than he was a few years ago, he has some idea of what to do.
"Hey, whoah whoah whoah. Calm down, kiddo," Dean says hastily, moving forward and putting a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it, you got a bunch of people here to watch your back. You'll be fine."

"Who's going to care if I live or die? If I didn't have that, that tablet thing, no one would have even known I was hurt. And even when I used it, only one person bothered to come." She'd seen so many people at the Halloween party. So many more than she had ever guessed lived in Taxon, and to think that only one person could take the time to help her when she was in pain and crying out for help? It didn't put much faith in her mind.

"At least one person did," Dean remarks mildly. "And I will again, if you need the help. You make everyone seem like a bad guy, sweetheart, and trust me, there's some bad suckers out there, but think about what night it is. It's Halloween. Nobody's checking the tablets, they're all at that party of yours."
Dean noticed right off the bat because he was being a social recluse at home.

"If you say so." She replied, her tone obvious with disbelief. "And I don't think everyone is a bad guy." She added indignantly, "I just. This isn't something I'm used to, and. And it's not like I can be expected to be optimistic after all this, can I?"
