As it turned out, things were laid out pretty simply on the cell-tablet contraptions. Since arriving there, Peter had gone through the modes, the functions, and mapped out for himself each of the specks that were supposed to mean important landmarks or whatever. The only thing he hadn't done - was use a 'hatch' to create himself something. It hadn't taken him longer than a second to come to this conclusion. Objects? They weren't just supposed to materialize out of the air, or some machine, whenever you wanted them. This not only seemed to fall into the realm of 'too good to be true' but also 'suspicious in being so'. Therefore, the younger Bishop had left off all hatching of items, determined to rough out what ( small, preferably ) amount of time he spent here.
What had helped most in this endeavor was the discovery of his especial little dot being his father's lab. Just like he left it. Peter had even strolled inside and caught himself starting to shout out to Walter. Calling out his father on his failure of a dimension-device would've been a relief at this point. One he would have to forego.
So, after a brief inventory of things around the lab, he'd stripped off his heavy coat and strewn it over a desk chair, deciding to get to work. The tablet was propped up against a spare microscope nearby, positioned so that it would pick him up whenever he was sitting at his workstation. In full view nearby, the device he'd appeared in Sanctuary with.
Peter could be heard fiddling and clanking with odds and ends in various other spots of the immensely cluttered lab before he hooked the chair with his foot and slid into the spot. He had several instruments in his hand and goggles sitting in preparation around his neck. But first things first.
Sitting down, he pulled the dialing device closer and clicked on another machine nearby. It had a meter going on the front, measuring what appeared to be similar to sound waves, if not exactly that. The small lines of fluctuation interpretation maintained a fairly straight line so far. So Peter turned away from that and gripped the smaller device tight. He wrote something down then flicked the device's dial back several switches.
The meter reacted just slightly, a couple of the lines shooting up and a buzzing noise like static emanating from the machine before it fizzled out just as fast. Peter breathed out heavily. "Because that would've been too easy..."
[ooc: this is probably a little closer to when he arrived, just because I went a bit slow with it.]
