003. [ location: around taxon ]

Helen started the day like she did any other day, Taxon or no Taxon. Checking the security footage of the few hours she did sleep and making sure that everything was in order. Oddly there was a sort of chaos that had filled the Sanctuary For All the night before with a few of it's residence. Helen had been less than pleased at James's "mature" ( Read more... )

River has explored most of the city by foot already. She hasn't, though, been in Wilde more than once, and she's not sure she wants to go there on foot yet with nothing between her and capture but footfalls.

So, she's taking it in small doses, building up an immunity to it and the spider venom it holds in the back of her mind, by riding the Orbit trolley all the way around the city. This is her second trip, staring out the window toward the buildings the entire time as she sits primly in her seat and pointedly ignores the Extras moving on and off.

Once someone with actual thoughts comes on, however, she'll find the sudden change of mental scenery hard to ignore.

Helen had switched trolleys sometime earlier and gotten off to explore the area again. She had heard of a few people inhabiting Wilde, but wasn't sure exactly who it was that was inhabiting. She stepped aboard the trolley with a bit of a sigh, moving to sit towards the back.

Quickly, without much time for a second thought, River's legs are up and blocking the aisle, her toes resting on the seat across from her. She doesn't even look up at first, though she scoots over to the side a bit.

Come, sit with her. She's intrigued, though she still looks very distracted by the world outside the window.

Noticing the shift in position, Helen sits next to her. At first she doesn't say anything, looking to the window then at her.

Once the car starts moving again, River turns her head to look back at Helen and moves her feet back down beneath her seat.

"I already have a doctor," she says, as if that's the most normal greeting in the world, before turning her attention again to the window and the city outside it. Let's hear it for mutually cyberstalking siblings?

Helen was taken a bit by surprise before speaking. "Pardon?"

"I have Simon," she says. The tone is tinted with duh, as if Helen should know that already, and said with a twist of a smile as River's eyes flick back to Helen before fixing on the window again.

While it made sense, she was still a little surprised at how it had come out of no where. "I don't believe I've introduced myself nor offered my services, miss."

Let's pretend the title was always like that, yes? Yes.

"Preemptive," is her only response, gaze still fixed on the window and feet now swinging a little idly under her seat.

"Ah." Was all she said at first. Helen looked out the window before looking back at the woman with a smile. "Helen Magnus. It's a pleasure to meet you."

River doesn't look back. She's too focused on the window, the limited world outside it, maybe something specific in the landscape. It's hard to tell. "River."

"Miss River." Helen nodded. People certainly had odd names in this city. Not that she was one to judge, she supposed. "Enjoying your time here?"

She only looks out the window, almost as if she's ignoring the question. Then there's a quiet ker-clunk as the tram moves from Wilde into Osten, and River turns her head suddenly to Helen as if snapped out of a daze.

"It's great. Latin after Greek, they follow each other."

Her eyebrows perked. "I'm afraid I don't follow."
