2; [VISUAL // LOCATION: NEST] a hunting we will go

Sep 22, 2009 23:18

Just because one can finally go out in the daylight doesn't mean one immediately swaps out on the night shift. So this is Eric, walking about in the Taxon evening. He's not deliberately broadcasting, and doesn't notice the tablet turning on. Instead, he's busy scoping out various buildings in the vicinity of Fangtasia ( Read more... )

Godric fished his tablet out of his pocket when he heard his name.

"Eric? What did you find?"

Eric lookded positively, smugly proud of himself. Seriously, it's like a kid presenting his crayola masterpiece to be put on the fridge.

"A house. It's much nicer than the basement under Fangtasia." He looked down the road, and continued. "And in decent proximity to the bar, too."

That's very nice, Eric. Here, we'll put it right up front with the pretty magnet, see?

"Where? I'll come see it." Godric was just out and about, exploring and getting his bearings. He could easily take a detour, and it wasn't difficult to tell that Eric had done this now, when he'd been previously content with Fangtasia, in order to please him.

I don't want the pretty magnet, I want the racecar magnet.

"South Osten. Up the road from the Fangtasia." He stood at the end of the driveway, looking back to the bar. It was a reasonable distance from it, which just made things easier. Almost too good to be true. Minus the whole abduction thing.

"You should have a house-warming party."

Dawn.

...Eric's face breaks into a horrible, terrible, 'bad-things' grin. Dawn, indeed.

"That is a very good idea."

So when Taxon explodes, everyone can be pretty sure it was a horrific idea of Dawn's made worse by Eric, amirite?

"I have them sometimes."

I think everyone's figured that Dawn would be somehow related to any ending explosions by now. It's only a matter of time, so it's hardly Eric's fault he's an expediter.

"You seem to have a good enough track record for them. At least since I've been here." Oh, Eric. Flattery never gets old does it.

Such dulcet tones and stellar vocabulary. Eric is rolling his eyes here, Faith. Just for you. You should feel honored.

"Yet I only hear one."

Faith grins, a little more proudly than perhaps is warranted. "Damn straight. So, what's up, Fang? Other than the snob bullcrap you got going."

Yeah, she so totally got shit-faced with Dean the night before and is still riding the high.

He's eying the feed, and yes, Faith, he can tell you've been drinking. Vampire powers of observation, they're a wonder.

"Moving day. I heard the call of suburbia and could hardly resist." Next thing you'll know, Eric will trade in the Corvette for an SUV and be showing up for PTA meetings. "And yourself?"

"'Fangtasia'. Oh you've gotta be kidding me."

Buffy doesn't know who this guy is, she doesn't know what this bar is, but a hilariously bad pun requires no familiarity to warrant her commenting on it. Also, just by looking at Eric she can tell he's a vampire (Slayers are good like that) and that's very interesting.

"Puns have always been a staple of high humor."

Eric knows you're not dissing his super lucrative bar, Buffy.

"I have an affection for them, I'm really not gonna lie, but isn't that one a little on the anvil-to-the-head side of obvious?"

Of course she's not, Eric. What on earth would give you that crazy impression?

"Well, we are advertised as a vampire bar, an appropriate title was needed."

He's got that finely attuned bullshit meter. Like Buffy can talk about club names. I mean, The Bronze? What's up with that.

Number Two, reporting for duty sir.

"Oh, good. I was getting tired of inhabiting a basement." Yes, Pam says 'basement' like most people say 'chamber of untold horrors and doom'. She has standards, okay?

"Really. It's not as if you said anything. At every possible opportunity." Yes, Eric has noted your bitching about living in a basement, Pam. It was kind of hard to miss.

"Fangtasia is an emergency hatch, not intended for living in. Bill Compton can keep his dirty hole in the ground, I have standards." She's somewhat cranky about this, Eric.

"Then you should be rather happy as to the prospect of relocation. You could even smile." Again, not hard to miss. Eric has been called many things, but never oblivious.

"And the basement was hardly dirty."
