008: [Location: Sanctuary] & [Visual] Food Is the Great Equalizer

Things with Willow had been slightly less than fine lately, owing to Tara revealing some things about the dark path Willow had taken with magic in other timelines. Things weren't tense or strained between them, per se, but they also weren't completely fine, either. As such, while Tara had been devoting the majority of her mental energy to Willow ( Read more... )

It had been a long while since Sheppard exchanged words with Tara. Hell, he even forgot her name (he wasn't always good with them), but recognized her face. One of the few people he talked to a lot when he first arrived. Then things had happened and he just sort of lost touch with the situation. But, Sheppard never left someone behind.

"Are those cookies and muffins?"

Though it had been a while since they'd talked, Tara remembered Sheppard as well. His name was on the tip of her tongue, and she was certain she'd remember it any second now.

But there was a more important matter demanding immediate attention, and so Tara smiled enthusiastically at the image on her tablet, nodding as she confirmed, "Chocolate chip cookies a-and blueberry muffins. I'm in the Sanctuary--stop by and help yourself!"

It was also a perfect opportunity to chat with the man again; it had been a while, but Tara had liked him from the few conversations they'd already had.

"Give me five minutes." Sheppard stood up and grabbed the jacket that came with his uniform. He was all over this idea. It had been awhile since he had a good muffin.

"I'll be here," Tara smiled back at the visual of the man. She had brought a book to read, which was resting on the corner edge of the table; but knowing an old acquaintance would be stopping by ensured, for the moment at least, that she could socialize rather than delve into a book.

Xander, who had been spending a goodly amount of the morning alphabetizing his ever-growing comic book collection... then messing it up and alphabetizing it again, was incredibly pleased to find, when he ventured up from the basement to the kitchen for a snack, the array of Tara-made goodies on the counter. It was nice that the tablet helpfully broadcasted the image of her sitting at the table at pretty much the same time.

"Tara, if I did not love you already, this would more than seal the deal." He announced, picking up a cookie.

Xander's voice got a smile out of Tara; she picked up her tablet, happy to see an image of her friend quite obviously enjoying, and appreciating, her cookies.

"I'm glad you like them, Xander," Tara's smile was earnest. "I-I hope there's enough there? Should I make more, too?"

Oh, Xander was appreciating them all right. In fact he was doing that face stuffing thing that he does so well at this very moment.

"Well I'm never going to say no to the word 'more', but I think there's plenty for now, thank you. They're delicious." This all said after he swallows, thickly. "So what's the non-bake-sale in aid of, anyway? I mean other than my rapidly growing waistline."

Gordon, who had taken to wandering around Taxon with one hand in his pocket and the other hand holding an unlit pipe, stopped when he saw the table full of muffins. He smiled at the young woman sitting nearby. "What a delightful array of delicacies. Are they yours?"

Oh, a new person! Tara was quite shy around strangers, but as she'd been with the Scooby gang over the years, and then spending time in this place, she was breaking out of that shell a little bit.

Smiling widely up at the man, Tara nodded, pushing a plate closer to him.

"I-I made them this morning. Chocolate chip cookies and blueberry muffins. W-would you like one, or-or both?"
