007: [Location: Hyperion Basement/Visual] Men-folk not always around to protect the women-folk

Sep 15, 2009 15:30

If people were to look at their tablets now, they would see Cordelia and her shiny, metallic sword coming in and out of view. There were lots of twisting and ducking and mostly all she was practicing was the subtle art of staving, which the vampire idiot thought were the only things she needed to learn when handling a sword ( Read more... )

[Have Sam, looking somewhat confused - but also intrigued.]

I didn't know you could use a sword.

Have a surprised-out-of-her-wits Cordelia, Sam! She shrieked and dropped her sword on the floor, before grabbing her tablet and seeing that it was indeed turned on, alas.

"Hey Sam!" she greeted, now looking a bit more composed. "Well, um - surprise?"

And now Sam instantly feels like an ass. Or something similar.

"Oh, jeez, sorry," he says, blushing. "You okay?"

She sees that blush and grins.

"Yep!" Cordelia answers. "Plus, I only dropped my sword like three inches from my toe, so everything's super!" She shakes her head. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding."

"So you're... talking to yourself whilst waving a large, intimidating weapon around. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm filled with warm, fuzzy comfort."

Xander naturally couldn't pass this one by on his tablet-browsing travels without comment. Also, he finds pestering Cordelia a neverending source of entertainment, particularly when entertainment is in relatively short supply in Taxon.

Oh, Xander. You little one-eyed weirdo who may or may not have a collection of comic books come next week.

Thankfully, as Sam had already alerted her to the fact that her tablet is on, she only rolls her eyes at Xander and does not shriek and/or drop her sword.

"Please. You're just jealous because you can't wave one of these things without beheading anyone within reasonable distance."

Do not touch the comic books Cordelia, for that is a battle you are not even remotely ready for.

...aww, Xander would have laughed heartily if she'd have dropped her sword or shrieked. Nevermind, perhaps another time.

"Oh, sure. Make fun of the guy with one eye. Y'know, I can swing a sword just as good as the next partially sighted guy with poor hand-eye co-ordination."

...he isn't actually offended, this is mostly all for show.

...all right, fine. She promises to never think about harming those baby comic books, mama bear.

"I never even thought about your one-eyedness when I said that," she says, stifling her laughter. "Now you're, like, half the swordsman I give you credit for. And it wasn't even a lot in the first place!"

For the most part? Cam ignored the tablet and whatever it did. He spent his time in he mountain, and generally tried not to pay too much attention to all the people that kept popping up as holograms, presumably in the same room he had.

Even with the mountain being somewhat creepy without the people he'd befriended over the years within it, it tended to be a preferable distraction to the city and the residents outside it.

Still. The sword flickering by caught his attention. The woman was unfamiliar, and obviously not speaking to him, but his curiosity got the better of him. "You could try a few slashes, for starters?"

He wasn't exactly a master swordsman, but he'd fought and defeated two black knights at their own game (although the second had amounted to pulling the plug, he hadn't died, and he assumed it probably wasn't meant to be killable anyway. So it counted.). Also, he took fencing in high school, and the woman looked like she could use any advice she could get.

Hmmm. Unfamiliar person giving her advices via the tablet.

Well. This was better than anyone just poking in to make fun of her, case in point one Xander Harris!

Cordelia took a moment to glance at the person. "You got a whole routine to back up that slashing idea of yours?"

He shrugged. "Don't know if I'd call it a routine, but I'd say the slashing would give you a better chance of beating my kid brother than that."

Not that he'd slashed all that much last time he'd dueled his brother.

She rolled her eyes. "Okay, fine, so 'routine' isn't exactly the right word to use for it, Mr. Swordsman. But, you know, the... um, movements! Aren't there supposed to be movements that will lead to the slashing?"

And on that note, "Why would I even want to beat your kid brother? Is he a demon?"
