I'm saddened by California's supreme court ruling to ban same sex marriage. I have many gay friends who have more stable love lives than I would hope to ever have. Why has it become ok to hate one group more than others? Why is it ok for religious groups to mandate what is acceptable and what is not? Do you think gay people chose that lifestyle ( Read more... )

there is no reasoning behind this madness. its sickening. how is it okay to deny some people the right to get married? its not. its denial of basic human rights. it is like denying blacks or women the right to vote. what happened to equality?

perusing the rants and raves section of craigslist makes me feel ill. 90% of the posts are hateful "HA! YOU FAGGOTS CANT GET MARRIED!" nonsense. these people are scared of homosexuality and turn into hateful and sometimes violent bigots. and i just love the "its an abomination against god!" statement. what is an abomination against god? LOVE? ridiculous idiocy.

when i awake and heard the ruling, i cried. i knew i would cry one way or the other but i was hoping it would be tears of joy. of all the states of ban gay marriage, i never thought we would be one of them.
BUT i do have some hope for the ballots next year because im sure this topic will pop up again and hopefully, things will change.

"its an abomination against god!" and seriously do we all have to believe in God?

if youre referring to the 'god' vs 'no god' debate, its never ending regardless of the topic its attached to.

No, I just mean that we can not ban gay-mariage just because of christian/muslim/other beliefs because why schould the others care about someone`s religion.

oh. yeah i fully agree.

the thing that really irks me tho....is WHY do people feel the need to interfere with gay couples lives? how on earth is it fair to even put the basic human rights of one group of people to a vote? equality for all men (and women) is written into our Constitution...how can that even be voted away? how does gay marriage negatively effect anyone? if theyre in love, let em marry. why shouldnt they be happy too? its just a terribly negative attack on people who want to get married for their own joy and fulfillment.

Naw. We just have to politically marginalize them, like we did after the Scopes trial.

Screw 'em. Let them come into the 21st century with the rest of us or let them rot in ignorance and poverty.

You get Thursday afternoons? Damn. I always get 9am on Sunday mornings :( So I get up and answer the door and they ask if my parents are there (because apparently I look about 14 in my jammies) and I say no (because they live in their own house, not mine) and then they give me a pamphlet and go away.
