OMFG.
Random visit from
miss_squiddy to Brum, plus cocktails with her,
vix_da_vixen,
just_jazz,
bunnyowen plus
mr_pete and Emma...lovely evening, with much silliness and talking of nonsense.
Popped to Scruffy's with every intention of going home when everyone else buggered off to the gig, then
loki_taa accosted a ticket seller and paid for me to go see Type O Negative.
Ahem.
They finally deigned to venture onstage at 10:25pm, by which point we were all fairly bored. They played the chicken song. Yes, seriously. Their entrance bit was to the damn chicken song!
Felt like we were at a wedding about a decade ago.
just_jazz and
loki_taa did the obligatory swinging-round-followed-by-air-guitar routine, which I'm afraid to say was one of the high points of the evening, was absolutely in fits of giggles, even the mardy-looking goths sat around chuckled at them!
I was in the (not entirely sober) mood for a bit of a boogie. Sadly, there was an entire lack of any kind of passion in the set, Pete Steele even had a screen in front of him, presumably to remind him of the lyrics!
We left around twenty minutes after the set started, out of sheer boredom. There were a few hardcore people cheering at the front, everyone else was standing around looking entirely bored.
Bearing in mind, I have never left a gig early before, and I only stayed as long as I did because I was under the mistaken impression that people I was with would want to hang around a bit in the hope that they'd improve.
We had to queue for the cloakroom. Twenty minutes into the set.
I really have never known anything like it.
I'm glad I went to see them, purely because I've loved them since I was an ickle munchkin. It's sad to say that the highlight of my evening was the journey home with my lovely
just_jazz, with much wifflage and giggling.
At least I know now.
Do not go and see Type O Negative live.
They suck!
