Ahhh, the days of High School

We went to Palestine (Texas) to visit with Patrick's family this weekend. On Friday night we went to the Palestine High School football game (his niece is on the drill team and wanted us to watch her perform). It was fun watching the game, the bands, the drill teams and cheerleaders and it brought back a lot of memories. Patrick was mildly disturbed by the new mascot uniform the school had. Apparently they have changed it since he went to school and it looks all happy rather than mean and intimidating. Of course, how mean and intimidating can a wildcat looK? I did find it interesting that the other team (Whitehouse) had the same colors and mascot as Palestine. There was a ton of maroon and white in that crowd. It was also interesting how many babies having babies there were. I saw no less than 5 very pregnant girls (makes you wonder how many more were pregnant but not yet showing) and about ten babies or toddlers with teenage parents. I think they need a better sex education program there...but maybe that's just me.

Saturday we went to see Patrick's grandma. She gave us some homemade red plum jelly that was pretty good. Also picked some muskadines and got to see the old family ranch. It was really nice...too bad they've sold most of it now. The one pond that is still in the family is on the land his mom is moving to after she retires next summer. She asked us to come help her clean it up later this year so we'll probably recruit a few friends to help out. There's a lot of clearing that needs to be done but it will be really nice in the end. Didn't really do much else other than sit around, talk and watch pre-season football. Oh yeah, I got told a gazillion times that they were all disappointed that I don't look pregnant yet. That was kind of annoying yet nice at the same time.

Sunday we got home around 3:00. Unloaded the truck which included the bassinet and bouncer Sandy got for us (Patrick's sister). Then we did our weekly grocery shopping and came home and played some WOW. Nothing too exciting.
