It's the little things

So, we have this awesome NEA grant this year that's letting us tour Tempest to somethingteen high and middle schools in PA. We kicked off the tour this week at the Lehigh Valley High School for the Performing Arts. They're a really awesome group of kids, and we've had a pretty good working relationship with their theatre department for the last couple years.

My favorite moment today: during today's lecture-demo on "Why We Love Shakespeare," I was discussing outsider characters - Othello, Shylock, Richard III - and asked how many of them had read or were familiar with Titus Andronicus. What could it hurt to ask, I figured-- what with it being a performing arts high school, one or two of them must have encountered it.

Not one. Not two. Fully half the auditorium raised their hands.

Thanks, LVPA kids. You made my year.
