The game versus Edgewood was so much fun! By far the closest game we've played this year and against our rivals at that. Edgewood is a private Christian school that a lot of kids we went to middle school with chose over Verona for high school, so we're a little bitter. Well they had this Jesus statue thing that they had painted in Edgewood's colors (gold and red, hahahaha) and we um..... well stole it actually.
Yes, we stole Jesus.
And Jesus body-surfed the biggest crowd I've ever seen at a high school bball game. Various cheers were "God can't help you," "Keep on praying," "Daddy's paycheck," and the quickly shushed "Father touched you." (yeah we figured that one just crossed the line) Anyway I had fun and got some pictures that I might upload later.
Anyway we freaked 'cause right after the Jesus episode our MVP from last year, Matt Stangl, twisted his ankle. So Schaaf went into a Hail Mary and we won the game 59-57 (thanks largely in part to the one and only Brett Valentyn... with much help from Matt Karls)
Then went to Tristan and Isolde which was pretty cool except for the distinct third wheel feeling on the way home with Tim and Caitlin in the car....
