1. Being Human apparently comes back January 10th. ♥_♥
(Also! Survivors is coming back and it's coming back in January and I can't wait for there to be more weird Tom/Anya in my life. And also everyone else. Except for Gillian. She really annoyed me.)
2. I'm still watching Paradox, btw, I came to the conclusion this week that I kinda love Christian King. He's so ridiculous and brooding and randomly appearing from behind things. Also we share deep circles under the eyes and I always feel kinship with people like that (there are seriously days where I look like I've been punched in the face, mine are so bad).
So the BBC are doing okay for me at the moment.
3. Speaking of TV - many of my shows are going on mid-season break and here's what I've discovered: Fringe can still hold my interest without [redacted SPOILER] (which I'm still upset about), Community has somehow become my favourite half-hour comedy (even beating The Sheldon Show The Big Bang Theory), I don't know whether I want to be Tina Fey or to do Tina Fey (crude but true, people), Lie to Me makes me so happy on so many levels because Ria Torres is hot and awesome, Castle is quickly becoming one of my favourite shows, The Good Wife is so much more than what it looks like on paper, Glee will fail in some way every week and yet I will still enjoy it and, the biggie, I am going to miss Numb3rs so. much when it's gone.
Still. At least Better Off Ted is back. And brilliant. (ABC, so help me, you killed Pushing Daisies and The Unusuals on me this year - if you kill Better Off Ted we are done. We are Done Professionally.)
(Well. Except for Castle. *coughs*)
4. I have paused momentarily in my Watch reread (50 pages into The Fifth Elephant. I try to read in 50 page chunks otherwise it takes me weeks to finish things.) because the Lucifer Box books I bought a couple of weeks back from Borders have been burning a hole in my shelf.
(Ha. Ha. See what I did there?)
They're only wee, too, and I suspect I will read them v. quickly. I should point out that, like Lord Peter Wimsey, I fell in love with Lucifer Box on the first page.
5. I have the newest Zelda game. It is as good as all other Zelda games.
(Though, it's possibly telling that the part that pisses me off the most is a part that isn't really the most challenging part. It's just fucking fiddly. This why I rarely finish games.)
6. I feel all bereft now that Tony Leung's ~faaaaaaace fortnight is over. Still - I will probably be watching Red Cliff again on Wednesday. So there's that to look forwards to.
Also! Related to showing my friend how awesome Tony's ~faaaaace is - she hasn't seen A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All yet. So I will show her that too.
It will make for an odd day's viewing. (Last week we watched Monsters vs. Aliens after we watched Hard Boiled. This is because I am *~*eclectic*~*)
7. Speaking of films:
i) I shall watch The Muppet's Christmas Carol next weekend. Because that is my favourite version ever. (People new to Jen - A Christmas Carol is amongst my favourite things in the world, I directed my own WWII set adaptation of it in Year 12 in Australia, and makes me truly happy.)
ii) I beg of you, friends - if you see Avatar, or if you plan to see Avatar, please, please, please do yourself a favour afterwards and watch Moon.
Moon is on my list of best films this year - not best sci-fi, best films - because it is amazing and Sam Rockwell is amazing and Duncan Jones (nee Zowie Bowie) is the best new thing in years. It's thoughtful, brilliantly written, plays with things Sci-Fi should play with and, above everything else, proves you don't need Cameron's vaunted CGI and associated techniques to make something look fantastic. They use miniatures and models. It's lo-fi and beautiful and I love it so much more than anything else I've seen this year.
(We-ell. Red Cliff comes close.)
So I implore you with every bit of my heart and soul - watch Moon. If you watch it instead of Avatar? I might just come to your house and make out with you.
*coughs* Or, alternatively, I'll write something for you. Original or otherwise.
(Currently the 'instead-of' offer only applies to the UK because Moon is on DVD & BluRay here. It comes out on DVD & BluRay in the US in January.)
In conclusion: WATCH. MOON.
