Tonight! On AC360 (27/10)

Oct 28, 2009 01:55

1. John again this evening.

Tonight: Keeping Them Honest, American Samoa. Digging Deeper - Sanjay in an ER with high H1N1 count. Crime & Punishment - a woman who was violently attacked and no-one helped her.

2. American Samoa affords John the chance to get at the Magic Wall.

Keeping Them Honest: Drew Griffin went to American Samoa to investigate what happened to the million-dollar warning system American taxpayers funded.

Apparently the government misused the money.

Sorry - the thing is. It's really hard to pay attention when Griffin keeps pronouncing Samoa wrong.

3. More Magic Wall business! Anderson never gets to do this. Big upcoming governor elections. N.J and VA.

Raw Politics with James Carville (Left) and Kevin Madden (Right). Something they recorded earlier, I'd say.

4. Erica's Bulletin: Brother of Karzai has been receiving money from the CIA (via NYT). Another 8 soldiers killed in road-side bombs. FAA revokes licenses of the NWA Flight 188 pilots. Home prices up in August. Iceland's can no longer support it's three McDonald's restaurants.

5. Digging Deeper: Sanjay vs. H1N1.

He is here to tell us how evil H1N1 is for children. Erica randomly pops up to ask about those ridiculous people out there who are trying to infect their children (which, to be honest, only ever makes me think of that episode of South Park where they wanted all the kids to get Chicken Pox.)

6. WORLD REPORT CNNI BREAKING NEWS: There's something of a gunfight going on Kabul. There's a great plume of black smoke coming up out of part of the city. A reporter who is fairly close to the action has seen plenty of police and heard gunfire and even some RPGs.

Coincidence or not - that the US ambassador just quit in a blaze of dissatisfaction?

7. I understand that AC360 is showing the story about the girl from the tease at the top.

So: themistoklis: They're talking about a girl who got gang raped at her high school dance and nobody was around surveilling or anything. Apparently some people witnessed it but didn't do anything.

Which is horrific. Truly horrific.

themistoklis: The police are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the people's arrests. Steve Perry is here, the education guy, and Mary Koss, a psychologist/University of Arizona professor. Steve thinks it's awful, it went on for two and a half hours without the police in the building walking around. She says that it's a "bystander effect" where people think other people are taking care of it. Steve says that typically stuff like this gets around and other people may've known what was going on, alluded to the Chicago incidents.

themistoklis: And a Text 360 question asking whether TV/movies/video games contribute to violence. Mary says when things like this happen it needs to be a wake-up call to society, what are we doing to make these incidents occur. Steve hopes the girl has a good support system and it's "easy for me to say" but he wants her to know that people know it wasn't her fault, it was the other kids'.

8. Sweat Lodge Homicides: Tuchman interviewed the children of Liz Neuman. (The lady who died after being in a coma for 9 days)

James Ray never went to the hospital to see her. He is an arseface who should be charged with whichever degree of murder it is when you've endangered people through being a complete fucktard.

ETA: And Sanjay is here to give us an explanation of what 'complete organ failure' is.

9. Erica's Bulletin Redux: Ah, there's my Breaking News from earlier. Agassi admits in new autobiography that he used crystal meth during his career. Arrest made in the case of that murdered football player. Ex-Letterman writer says that the office at the show was sexist.

10. Tonight's Shot: some five year-old Romanian bodybuilder kid or something.

I am so sadface that they never used a clip from Sanjay's interview on TCR. Anderpants would've got a kick out of that.

Haha. Oh, John did a terrible Austrian accent. I can't even. Erica just gave him this blank look. Come on, John! It's not even Friday, yet.

ac360: intrepid tuchman is intrepid, heal me doctor gupta!, love a pundit: john king & magic screen, tonight! on ac360
