1. So. John Roberts again. He's terribly uncharismatic.
I'm going to take a guess and say that Anderson is or has been on a proper summer holiday (that's vacation for my American cousins).
2. We get underway with the Obama Healthcare Tour '09. We all know about the ridiculous behaviour that's been going on at the Town Halls all over the US recently. Today Obama went out there and did a proper Town Hall himself.
White House even made a point of saying they wouldn't be censoring the questions.
Meanwhile, on the Tour, Arlen Spector gets an earful. And, well, a lot of the town halls devolved into shouting, as usual. *sighs*
They sent Gary Tuchman out to trying and get a handle on what people are actually saying. He seems a little confused as to why people really believe that Obama is trying to kill them or whatever. He also said this:
Tuchman: (people at the Town Halls) Say they are the voice of the silent majority. Of course, if they are the majority, what happened in election day?

Talking about truths and whatnot. What's really going on and so forth. I...I think that Sanjay might have actually been paying attention.

Can I just...here's the thing. You don't have to be on the NHS. There's plenty of people who have private insurance here. But surely - surely it would be a source of comfort to you that if something went horribly wrong with your insurance, or if they were just bastards as they are want to be, that there would be something in place to help you?
Also, seriously, the NHS doesn't kill old people. In fact - most of the old people I know (and I know a lot through, you know, working in a bingo hall) get treated really well by the NHS.
So. Seriously, scary right-wingers, calm the fuck down.
