NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHTFAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL

Blind Guardian has come to Andrew's house, finally. Yay!

For those who haven't read NENAR's journal:

We are going to Mali in the Peace Corps. We are scheduled to leave July 17th, which means that we'll still have an Independence Day party the weekend before the 4th (fireworks at the local college). Nicole will be joining the fight against HIV/AIDS and I will be helping Malians develop in an environmentally sustainable manner (fighting deforestation and desertification). We'll be gone 27 months (back in September of '09). Hopefully Obama will be doing wonders with the USA by then. We'll be living in a mud hut with no electricity or running water, but at least we're given mountain bikes! We'll be learning French and most likely Bambara, the local language.

At the end of it all, we get about $6000 each, but we've just learned the caveats: only $2000 once you're done with the 27 months and the rest 4 weeks later (which puts a damper on many travel plans). Also, I've done the math and found that if I defer my loan for the whole time, it will cost me $4000 extra (fucking unsubsidized loans), so this certainly isn't a profitable venture.

I've put in my resignation. Sad to be going, but not so sad. I've got a lot to look forward to.
