Bombings on Danes

I haven't posted in a looong time, so you know that what I'm posting about really angers me. Quick run down: a Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, published charicatures of Mohammed the Prophet with bombs in his turban. Muslims are upset because this is blasphemy and according to Muslim tradition, there are to be no pictures of the prophet because ( Read more... )

Daniel, you know I respect your opinion, so don't be offended by this.

But they're right. Insofar as Islam is concerned, that sort of profane treatment of the prophet is met with violence. It has been the traditional answer of Islam to that sort of thing for centuries.

We say "people should be allowed to say whatever they want;" they say "some things are beyond the pale."

I don't agree that violence is the best punishment, but that's a disagreement of opinion. As far as deciding what should and should not be allowed, this is much like the ban on child pornography. Every culture has to decide what is and is not allowed.

Yes, the Daniel would be me, the taurendur would be Andrew. This is very very important. If it were the other way around, Nicole would be the most daft person in the history of humanity. :-p

I think Andrew is more referring to the Arabs who have chosen to live in the Western World, such as those in Denmark and other European countries. In which case, if they want to live in our world and reap the benefits (Denmark has a huge Arab population, because their welfare system is really, really good) then they should be living by the rules. And the rules state you don't attack Danes in their own country, which has been happening, from what I understand.
