No sketches yet, but I have a few more notes on the three main types of critters that live in Ardeska and some of what Ssam has to go through.
Lubberfiends: Rodent/Feline type people who live in the nooks and crannies of Ardeska. They come in a large variety of colors, sizes, and degree of shagginess (One of the Circus members is 9 feet tall and "Bearded")They used to live in The Walled Garden, but have recently been run out by angry, sentient plants that have been infected with The Madness (which is essentially Doubt about why you were created. In a world where your used to being able to have a one-on-one talk with your creator about your purpose in life, existential crisis can be a bit of an issue.) They now make up most of The Circus population. They have a very tribal instinct, and tend to band together more than The Wild Animals, but are less clique-y than The Onieri. One of Ssam's companions is a Lubberfiend named Bauri, who is a clown in The Circus who agrees to help Ssam if he can coax her friend Cozko down from the top of the tent where he's been sulking. She's more helpful than Cozko, but still tends to be stubborn and vague in her hints.
Onieri: Generally petite, and come in various shades of gray, with blackish or whitish hair and small wings. They were originally created by The Sweet Prince to make him more accessible to the citizens of Ardeska, as Onieri have a mental link with him and are supposed to always know where he is. For some reason they always appear as male. (though this doesn't really matter, as they are essentially sexless) Usually they wander around Ardeska either solitary or in pairs, and otherwise are not exactly sociable (Cozko is a glaring exception). However, since The Sweet Prince has gone missing, they have withdrawn into a series of underground caverns, with the exception of Cozko, who stayed behind as a scout. He's pretty much useless as a companion until Ssam gets to the Underground Caverns, where listening to him is the only way to NOT get lost and die/ Piss off The Onieri who have a lot of weird customs.
The Wild/Tame Animals: The most varied creatures in Ardeaska. The only similarity between one and another is they are unpredictable. However, most are colorful, and Wild Animals wear masks. If you can convince them to trust you, they will take off their masks and become Tamed. Tame Animals are much more sociable, and many have a place in The Circus. Though they only really trust the person who tamed them. In The Wild Woods Ssam meets The Twins (Playful, but dangerous if they get bored), The Guardian (Moderately Harmless)and The Destroyer (REALLY dangerous. He'll mess you up if you trespass). Tame Animals in The Circus include The Guide and his mistress The Night, who are shy, but kind.
Ssam journey through Ardeska is pretty much divided into 2 parts
1) Finding The Ringleader/ Portal Piece : The Circus folk have found the portal piece (it put a hole in the tent) and as soon as they find out Ssam wants it, they make a bargain. If he manages to find their leader The Ringleader and prove he had nothing to do with the disappearance of the Sweet Prince, they'll give him the piece. Then its a simple manner of finding the Prince (which is actually pretty easy)
2) Taming The Mad Ones/ Re-opening the door : The make-shift door sort of collapses/ gets sealed off by insane plants when Ssam tries to leave with the portal piece, but The Sweet Prince agrees to fix a new door if Ssam helps figure out a way to deal with the Madness. (Ardeska is sort of childish. It gets what it wants through blackmail.) To do this he'll have to tame one of The Mad Ones in The Wild Woods. This involves finding his way through the woods without Cozko and Bauri, (taking them with you wil either scare of the Mad Ones, or incite them to kill you.)find one of the less violent Mad Ones, and figure out how to tame it.
After Ssam finishes the two main tasks, he's pretty much free to wander around without getting killed/ trapped anymore. There are probably a couple of items for other worlds lying around if he just looks around enough.
