On April 19th, (that's today!!!) Gotham Girls Roller Derby will kick off its fourth season of hard-hitting, all-female Roller Derby action at the Schwartz Athletic Center at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University (1 University Plaza). A double-header, featuring the Gotham Girls Roller Derby All-Stars vs. the Philly Roller Girls All-Stars (aka the “Liberty Belles"), with a 30min warmup expo bout featuring the premiere of the GGRD B-Team taking on the Connecticut RollerGirls All-stars, aka the “Stepford Sabotage”.

GGRD’s All-Stars earned the nickname “the Beasts from the East” as they took the #1 spot in the Eastern Regional Tournament presented by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (wftda.com). At the WFTDA National Championship, they went on to take #5 in the nation (of WFTDA’s 54 member leagues). Philly’s “Belles” are among the top national competitors at #9 and are hoping to avenge their 139-83 Eastern Conference loss to Gotham which took them out of the running to go to Nationals.

GGRD’s B-Team promises to be just as fierce as the All-Stars as they come out of the gate at their inaugural bout. The Connecticut “Sabotage” may be green as well, but they are hungry. With only 2 All-Star bouts under their helmets, these CT All-Stars (currently unranked) are looking to make a name for themselves on the national map, and across the backs of your favorite girls in red and black.

After the game, join us at Manitoba's (99 Ave. B near 6th Street in Manhattan) to toast victory or drown defeat with your most favorite derby divas. More info at manitobas.com.
