Hello hello. I have had Anwar to visit again, and it is so nice. I may have mentioned this last time he visited, but he wanders around liking Malvern, which is refreshing. He remarks on how nice it is, how pretty, and how it is always sunny (based on circumstanstial evidence). I have always thought Malvern a lovely place to live, but it's easy to take it for granted, nonetheless, and it really is wonderfully pretty here. I will miss it when I move to Leeds.
Also, I am always hugely amused at Anwar's city boy views (as opposed to my country girl ones). The differences are minor, of course, but there are so many things I take for granted that, it turns out, he doesn't know. Like what a robin looks like, and to watch out for various forms of livestock on the road, and that shops are not open much on Sundays.
The highlight of the week was Thursday, when we went on an excursion to Gloucester, where there is a fantastic climbing wall. I'd been there before, but not for years, and Anwar hadn't been before and was muchly impressed by the height of the walls, if nothing else. (I failed to do up my harness properly, but there were no upsetting accidents, just a few moments of burning embarrassment while an instructor pointed out what I'd done, and corrected it, and Anwar waited patiently half way up the wall.)
On the way to Gloucester, we passed moo-cows ('there are no hedges or fences!' said Anwar, 'they could just wander into the road!' 'Yes,' I said, 'they do.') Also sheeps and lambs, and emo!horses. Seriously, they had awesome emo fringes. I wish I could have taken a photo. They were also black and white, and Anwar accused them of pretending to be cows.
Yesterday Mum and I delivered phone directories, which is possibly the worst job in the world. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but we spent all day trawling up and down roads on a fairly warm day, dropping phonebooks through doors, and failing to drink enough, with the result that I spent the entire journey home trying not to throw up. Fun fun fun.
And today, my main concern is the toad in the hole which I am eagerly waiting for; another 15 minutes and I will have NOMMALICIOUS FOOD. Good good.
