In an optimistic frame of mind:
look what ordinary people can do.
Castrovalva arrived today. I have fallen entirely too much in love with eBay, but it's great that I've ended up getting four videos for around or slightly under £20. I can feed the addiction relatively cheaply...
Five is scarily unbalanced at the start. His return to Two is immediately recognisable and very well done, and neutron flow polarity even gets a look in! It's quite sad to see Four's scarf and clothes destroyed, though. And (as
doyle_sb4 mentioned at
who_otp) he seems so lost when Adric tells him Romana is gone. "Did she leave a note?"
I liked the mention of recursion early on (Tegan and Nyssa mention it), and then the reappearance later in story as Castrovalva folds in on itself. Building a zero cabinet was also rather fun, even if Tegan and Nyssa did look a little strange parading around a forest with a large white box balanced on a wheelchair. And then they dropped the wheelchair in a river. I mean, to me that all seemed a little surreal even for Doctor Who, but it was fun. ;)
There were some fun quotes. One with a little child helping the Doctor count:The Doctor, trying to count his companions: One... two... No no no... One! Two! ...
Child: Three, sir!
The Doctor: What?
Child: Three, sir, is what comes after two.
The Doctor: That's exactly what I thought.
Child: And then four and then five and then six and then seven -
The Doctor: Stop! You're making me dizzy. Well done. We must give you a badge for mathematical excellence. Adric!!
and also this, early on while the Doctor is very confused and 'looking for the Doctor':The Doctor: Tell me, will I find the Doctor here?
Portreeve: Oh yes, you will find him very soon, Doctor. Good night, Doctor.
Five is adorable.
In a random mood, I have just had a conversation in Clanger speak with my Dad, which ended with what he solemly informed me was 'a Clanger impersonating a Dalek' (ooh, the crossover potential...). See why I'm insane?!
And
hathy_col has friended me back, so I'm grinning again. :)
In RL, I haven't done much useful today, again. *sobs* But I was a Good Girl and wore my tooth guard type effort last night, which I have been too lazy to do for about three weeks, and later I am meeting up with Physics friends, sauf que Helen, and plus Jenna. We're going for a meal and then to the cinema, so it should be nice.
I nearly didn't go actually, partly because I actually fell asleep while texting Claire back (I can't quite believe I did that - surely I'm not that tired? I will never survive Fresher's Week). Also, choir starts again tonight, so I should go to that, and I was a little put off by Jenna going. I don't really know her, and have only really seen her in Latin lessons.
But I decided what the heck, it's probably my last chance to see the others, and I can deal with meeting new people, I hope (especially since I do sort of know her). I am a little bit disappointed because that means I'll probably only have one more choir practice before I leave, but Andrew probably won't mind too much. I'll be at evensong on Sunday, anyway.
Feeling ridiculously pleased about the fact that I have some sort of social life as well as the other five. Maybe I will be ok at uni after all. :)
