tune of at least $350M (from the $2B Automotive Competitiveness and Investment Scheme as of 2002, but not including amounts such as $200M
hinted at from the previous year's budget, which I can't be bothered chasing). I particularly like Howard's comments in
2002: “[the deal] ended the year-to-year uncertainty about the future of Mitsubishi in Australia”. About as short sighted as everything else Howard did and said in the other 11.5 years.
Good to see Holden and Ford are still doing the same old same old 8 cylinders. Hopefully they'll fold next.
That would certainly spare some room in the budget so that
inflationary pressures are decreased.
