So.

I went to the doctor on Thursday to see what's up with my not being able to sleep well (or at all, some nights). We discussed things that are going on in my life and their relationship to my sleep. It turns out that I should be going to therapy for my anxiety issues. And my trust issues. And my self-esteem issues. She gave me a list of local therapists and I'm going to make some calls Monday morning. She also told me to start taking melatonin for sleeping. I have to take one to three pills about two hours before I plan on sleeping. I guess this is the chemical in the brain that makes you sleep. If you can't sleep your levels get low leading you to not sleep which make your levels lower which makes you not sleep and so on.

I do have to give her credit. She said to me: Ok, I can put you on sleeping pills. Or you can give the melatonin a chance. I can put you on anti-anxiety medication, or you can go to therapy and deal with your issues.

So, I chose the options that didn't involve me taking any more manmade pharmaceuticals. The melatonin is a natural supplement and was pretty cheap.

We'll see.
