[The comm clicks on to the sound of a rather chill and perhaps slightly bored Klausian.]
Seems about time I come out of hiding. How's it going? For those of you that don't know me, I'm Cliff.
[There's a pause while he scratches his head and fights off a yawn.]
Anyway, Team Gamma! It looks like we'll be working together so how about a meet up?

Watch it, Cliff. I'll be on my way once I finish here.
[She loses most of her formal diction in conversation between Cliff and herself, on their lonesome. It helps that Nel is sure he won't change a thing if she bothers to speak court at him.
Reply
Yeah, yeah. Don't keep me waiting too long. What're you doing anyway?
Reply
You can stand to wait another few minutes without exploding. I'm taking care of a supply shortage.
[Cryptic for Nel? Yes. She won't ramble on a public forum about the secreted pockets that she is personally filling up with handmade needles until they have assured privacy.]
Reply
Alright. I'll just be chillin'. Don't leave me waiting too long.
[It's casual Cliff speak for, "BUT I'M BORED NOW."]
Reply
Patience would do you good.
[Having achieved the last word, Nel zaps the connection and pays the wood shavings proper mind. After this roll of needles, she'll tidy her desk and meet him on deck 01.
Reply
[Bored tone is go! He won't say any more for now. Cliff's just gonna mess around on the top deck until she gets there.]

Her entrance (exit, if your perspective is from the stairwell) is quiet. Unlike some people, Nel is not about to blindly shout to announce herself.
And it's hard to miss a hulking beefcake like Cliff leaning against the rails. A ninja approaches!]
Reply
He glances in her direction mid tap and offers a slight smile.]
You gonna tell me what you've been up to yet?
Reply
Yes.
[Her left arm raises, like she's about to give Cliff a friendly clap on the shoulder, but then there's a discreet flexing of leather and three bound needles slide out from god knows where on her covered wrist. Something like pride glints behind her eyes.]
Reply
Now aren't you handy. That'll be useful if everything goes nuts again. It's what we're here for, yeah?
[He punches the palm of his other hand.]
Wait a second. No ones been giving you trouble, have they?
Reply
[Another twist and her newest accessories slip out of view.
Nel let a respectable distance keep between them before she stopped and craned her neck. Specifically because she has to crane her neck, and she knows from experience the unpleasant stiffness that occurs from looking Cliff in the face. Her head is not quite so perpendicular to her spine as it could be, when she shoots him the desert-dry Look.]
What? Going to rescue me from aspiring delinquents?
Reply
Hey, I'm just looking out for ya. Not that you really need it but I'm not gonna sit back and let it happen.
[He puffs out his chest and tilts his chin a little upwards. His next words are a little serious, but mostly joking.]
Besides, I'm your fearless leader.
Reply
She shakes her head, shrugs.]
Fine line between fearlessness and reckless abandon.
Reply
A little harsh, don't you think?
[There's a brief pause before he shrugs it off. He knows Nel well enough to know there probably wasn't any harm intended, but he's taking this Team Captain thing seriously.]
In any case, I'd hoped to get the team together today. Seems like it's gonna be a little harder than I thought to get the group in one spot. Bee stopped by for a chat, but him and you are the only ones I've heard from.
[Slight pause. Cliff shifts to lean on the railing and look out to sea.]
Oh, talked to Bryn a day or two ago. You've heard of shifters, right?
Reply
Something must be distracting them, if they can't put a word in. Speaking optimistically.
[Her eyes follow his line of sight, sweeping over the horizon with a critical and disbelieving edge. Outrageously perfect weather they're having.]
As for shifters, that would depend entirely on what sort of shifting you mean. Elaborate.
Reply
[Cliff rolls his shoulders and leans again on the railing. He's hunched over pretty far, given his height, but still looks pretty comfortable.]
Shifters. Shape shifters. Like... people who look like people, but can turn into an animal or beast of some sort with next to no trouble and then change back when they feel like it.
[That's usually the case anyway. At least it's relevant to Bryn.]
