the day before yesterday i tatted a small pair of earrings from a pattern i bought recently from
http://www.hhtatting.com/ they were teeny and cute and lacy and i love them. i used a new thread. a variegated purple/white/light green.
that night, i pinned them to my foam core board for starching and left them until morning. they looked so pretty lying on my foam core board stinking of starch.
yesterday morning i picked one off to admire its beauty and starchiness, laid it back on the board and went to work. just laid it there.
when i came home, it was gone. g-o-n-e. gone. i don't think biscuit-my kitty- got it, because the foam board was slanted back towards the wall, where the cat can't get to. but... where is the tatted earring? i pulled everything out of that space. nothing. i used a high-powered flash light to search the deepest darkest recesses of the craft corner of that room... nothing.
not a big deal. i can make another one. i will just have to delay my gratification of wearing them a little while longer. :-/ so, i get the other one off and take it to the living room where i can work on replacing the missing one and admire the finished one. but first, i needed to get supper ready, so i just laid my lone tatted earring on the husband's humidor for safe-keeping.
justin, innocently enough, wanted to check his cigars in said humidor. so he laid my tatting (there was also a red snowflake) to the side and did his checking. i come along a little later, can't find the second tatted earring. it's gone. g-o-n-e. gone. the red snowflake is laying there beside some other junk. but no earring.
gone into oblivion. or the cat's stomach. but, there's no way the cat could have prowled through all the junk beside the humidor (two vases-handmade of course by me and by my college art professor, crochet in various stages, a water bottle, a drinking glass, pens, pins, etc) to find that wittle bitty earring..... i mean.. it fits on a nickel. but it's gone. into oblivion.
now i have nothing to show for an afternoon of tatting and a night of starching. *sigh* guess i'll have to start all over.
