oh sweet relief! (boring post, don't read)
I AM SO RELIEVED!
I just had a HUGE scare when my darling little ibook (who I've had for three years now) refused to turn on, on Tuesday night. It was in "sleep mode" but but it wouldn't wake up. And it's little light wasn't pulsing, it was just staying the same. It wasn't responding at all. And the battery was fine, and Anna took the battery out and put it back in again and it still wouldn't work. Then it just turned off completely and no matter how long I held the start up button- nothing.
I was really stressed out the last two days, because I didn't have a chance to get to the applestore until friday and I was convinced that this was the end (don't they say two years is how long you can expect a computer to last?) and also sadly confused because I'd taken such good care of little Brian and I'd hoped he would at least last out my senior year. I was convinced he was done for and the worst part was I hadn't backed up ANYTHING on my computer. I knew that everything would be lost. And the only way to try and get the computer to work again would be to wipe it clean. This happens to everyone. It's always the same horror story. And no one ever has anything backed up. So I was trying to mentally prepare myself to losing everything. And I mean really, it isn't *so* much stuff, but it's just a lot of music and a lot of writing that I'd never saved anywhere else.
Well, I took it to the applestore today and it's completely FINE! He just had to reset it, and he said that that happens sometimes. He couldn't find anything else wrong and he just turned it back on somehow and now it's working like a dream! I am so thankful. And it's actually sort of good that it happened because I learned my lesson and IMMEDIATELY bought an external hard drive. I just spent the last hour saving everything worthwhile onto the external hard drive so now I AM SET!
Sorry, this post is not exciting or purposeful, I am just so thrilled and relieved and exuberant that my computer is not dead! And all of my files are not lost! I will be able to write my two papers and story and eveyrthiing due next week on my computer.
such a relief. So let this be a warning to you if you read this, BACK UP YOUR FILES! Don't wait for your computer to break down because it will happen!
