Laying next to him as he sleeps, I watch his breathing patterns. With each inhale I am reminded of every thing I have ever done for him and each exhale reflects the things I only wish he would do in return. I remember that this stranger in slumber next to me has his hand buried deep within my body, my lifelessness apparent by the weight burdened ( Read more... )

Princes never come. If they do, it is to make fun of me. However, since this is a fairy tale...

The princess turned away for she feared love, she feared letting go of all and opening herself up the world. All that she had ever wanted was before her. With tears welling in her deep pools, she faced the prince and asked him if he believed in good people. "Why, yes, I suppose so," he replied. The princess explained to him how she, too, believed in good people once. She told him about the other princes who tried to work wizardry on her. "I fell at their feet, a victim to their evil magic," she now cried. "Those men, too, had told me that they loved me. Through this, their cruel actions showed that dirty wretched lies oozed from their mouths each time they spoke the three foul words." As her shoulders shook the prince began to scale the tower where she was locked away. At the top, the timid princess watched as he cautiously removed his armor on her balcony. In one sweeping move, he took the princess in his arms and held her close to his body. She wept. She wept with the strange limbs surrounding her, rendering her struggling useless. She wept until the sun rose, and all the while standing, much less rigidly, encircled by a new kind of lightness. She embraced her embracer and after a moment she was freed from his grasp. "Do you believe in good people?" the prince asked. "You are the only truth I recognize for miles. Here, with my head on your open chest, I have a renewed faith in our kind," she cooed. So the prince led his princess inside her castle and secured the door. He slayed the ghosts that she carried on her back, relieving twenty years of painful memories.
