Everyone's heard about the bear researcher story by now, so I won't bother linking it.
However, this quote stands out:
"I told him to be much more cautious ... because every time a bear kills somebody, there is a big increase in bearanoia and bears get killed," Miller said. "I thought that would be a way of getting to him, and his response was 'I would be honored to end up in bear scat.'"
It was never about the bears, for Treadwell. It was about him having his spiritual totem-animal thrill, using wild bears as a prop in his fantasies, and who cares what kind of trauma he might cause the bear as a result?
Best comment about him I've heard: "He had about as much respect for bears as a skateboarder has for a grind rail."
