Being a Good Friend

Jun 28, 2004 09:17

Okay, so I met this girl who lives down the street from me... She is really cool, and we have become really good friends. Thing is, she doesn't really go to church, or claims to be a Christian... I am not judging her, I just have questions... I mean... When we first met, I wasn't really on the right track with God, and since we've met I've changed... I've started going to church, and what not, so.... So, now I really don't want to freak her out, and I want to make sure I'm a good friend to her, and since she is younger than I am, I think its really important because I think of myself like an older sister or something to her.... She has a lot of problems, and things that have happened in her past, I just want to make sure I'm there for her, but also a good influence on her....

Like, last night I invited her to my church because she had called up wanting to go to a movie, and I told her I couldn't cause I wanted to go to church, she got a little upset, so I invited her. She was cool at first, but then started writing me notes, and texting me on my cell, and I didn't want to be rude, cause I knew this was all new to her, and she wasn't sure to stuff like this, but at the same time I'm really trying to listen and learn something... It's not easy... She is fifteen, and I'm about to turn eighteen, so... I took her to the movies after church, and we had fun, but its just like I kept thinking about church.... Will I not be able to take her to church, because its like she is a HUGH distraction. Her parents kind of weirded out when they found out I had invited the girl to church, so I don't know what to do..... Being a good friend isn't always easy.
