The countries of the mecha series!
The popular spot for stuff like this is ALWAYS Japan. Being in the US, you would think I'd want to put it here, but nope! My open spots for these stories, and the spin offs they will have are Australia and Canada! The mecha related stuff will take place in the original area I planned it, in Australia. The non-mecha related spin off(s) will more likely take place in Canada.
I do owe the idea of country hosting to Scott Pilgrim; my introduction into how awesome places beside Japan and America can be (in fictional settings). If it weren't for that this story probably would take place in Japan. Before SP I knew very little about what could come out of Canada, aside from ReBoot and Oh, Canada, from my childhood. I make my own things these days, and I look into places I like as to where to put them. Mind you, I've never been outside the US, but who gives a fuck? I'm about to PARTY! I'm doing research on the countries so I can have the basic accurateness to look like a total fool about it. Other stuff, I'm just going to make up, though!
For a short time I considered Spain, Italy, and French. As it turns out, these countries don't attract me to the idea of Aliens coming for spaces, and giant Robots fucking up ALL SHIT. With the land mass size of Japan, that kind of turns me off, too. When I think about it I can't help but come to "How do they even have room for all that? I don't understand how everything takes place in Tokyo and no one gets stepped on, with all those people there". A lot of these stuff comes from the Japans, however, and they're just sticking to what they know, when it comes to placing things in there home country (I assume). One might think an American would want to do the same thing, but everyone would see that coming SO FUCK THAT IDEA!
