Time to die

My brother and I watched Blade Runner last night. Upon every viewing of that film, I pick up new things. If you're interested in science fiction, you must watch it as it's one of the best sci-fi films (and of any kind) of all time. Not very easy to understand the first couple times but it's worth it.

Congrats to Appalachian. I saw they won the San Juan Shootout beating Virgina, Central Florida, and Vanderbilt (haha that's what you get for rejecting me. I'll see if someone else wants my 690 GMAT). At the moment, it looks like it will be Appalachian vs Davidson for the SoCon bid. But you never know what can happen with these one bid conferences.

Duke doesn't look that good...but they keep winning. After beating Gonzaga last night, I'm adding them to my #1 seeds list for now.

Ohio State plays Florida on Saturday. No now in football. Who cares about that? We're talking basketball. The Buckeyes have looked better but Florida was my pick to repeat. I'm pulling for the Gators.

I got a my voting materials in the mail. I have stock in PortalPlayer which makes semiconductors for things like the iPod. They got killed earlier this year because Apple dropped them so they lost a ton of value. I bought in, because I decided it would be a good turnaround. Well, nVidia has offered to buy them for $13.50 a share. While this would give me around a 15% profit in only a few months, I'm not pleased. I think PortalPlayer is worth at least $20 a share. Which doesn't sound like a big deal. Only $6.50 give or take right? Well I own 130 shares. So I feel I'm getting a tad ripped off. I voted against the deal. It's probably in vain because there are more than 25 million shares total and I think the people who like the deal own a good amount of those. But I'll find out Jan 5 or so.

William & Mary sent me an e-mail waiving my application fee if I apply between now and sometime in February. I wonder if they do this for everybody, or if they're rolling out the red carpet for me. They actually called me on the phone which I thought was surprising. I mean Williamsburg, VA to Lenoir, NC is long-distance I think. I hope they have Vonage Deltathree (I own stock in them). Wake Forest waived my application fee too, but I have to apply by the Orange Bowl..which is Jan 2. Probably not happening. I knew I shouldn't have put all my eggs in one basket. Why didn't I listen to you Aesop?
