I won the Star Wars Holiday Special on Ebay. Should be here any day. It's going to be truly awful I can't wait.
I got two Economist magazines in the mail in one day. Dammit! It takes a long time to read that cover to cover. Now I have two! I'll have to delay the other books I'm reading.
My portfolio hit a new all time high yesterday. Hooray! And I bought a new stock. Deltathree. They're a company that does this Voice over Internet Protocol stuff. So hopefully that'll be a good buy. It's at 1.28 now. I hope it goes to 4. Eat it Vonage!
Time for my final Division I-AA Rankings of the season. In ascending order this time.
#10: UC- Davis 6-5: Not a great record, but they had some key games that show they belonged here. A 45-0 pasting of Montana State. A 4 point loss to North Dakota State. The only team to beat San Diego this year. So they deserve a spot.
#9: New Hampshire 9-4: Not bad when the national runner-up gives you half your losses. The other two were to James Madison and a actual upset to Northeastern. Nice wins against Richmond, Maine and Northwestern and they did get to the second round of the playoffs.
#8: Northern Iowa 7-4: Last year's runner-up should have been in the playoffs this year. They had a better conference record than Southern Illinois (although they did lose to them), beat Youngstown State, and one of their losses was by 1 to Iowa State.
#7: Portland State 7-4: Another team that should have been in the playoffs. They went 1-2 against I-A teams and their other two losses were to Montana and Montana State.
#6: Youngstown State 11-3: Great run to the semifinals, but they ran into a buzzsaw. Solid year for the Penguins though.
#5: Montana 12-2: Only losses were to Iowa and Massachusetts. Nothing to be ashamed of although in many other years, this team could have been the champion.
#4 Massachusetts 13-2: They had their chance against Appalachian but clearly weren't as good. Other loss was to Navy. Same as Montana above.
#3: James Madison 9-3: I think this team got screwed. If the Dukes had gotten to have a first round home game (which they deserved) instead of having to open up at Youngstown State, they could have made a run.
#2 North Dakota State 10-1: Weren't eligible for the playoffs but boy I would have loved to see App play them. Only loss was by 1 to a decent Minnesota team. This team could be a perennial contender.
#1 Appalachian State 14-1: No other logical choice. I think Appalachian was more lucky than good last year. They definitely deserved the title, but if Northern Iowa doesn't upset Texas State or if Illinois State had made the playoffs, it could have been different, not to mention the close calls against Northern Iowa and Furman. But this year, App was clearly the best team in I-AA. The only bad thing you can say is that they should have went undefeated. If Applachian played NC State today, App would probably win. And that's even if the game was in Raleigh.
