Star Trek: The Rebootening

I have a Dreamwidth account, thanks to Jadey! I'll be crossposting to LJ for awhile, and then hopefully switching over entirely, because Dreamwidth. Wow. If anyone wants an invite code, let me know!

New Trek! Cut for potential spoilers. )

fandom: merlin, fandom: rps, fandom: star trek: reboot, serious thoughts

I've been staying away from the new Trek, mostly because a)I sadly (very very sadly) haven't seen it yet, and less so because b)I had no time to get mixed up in a new fandom (even though that usually doesn't stop me XD). Hopefully I will be remedying my lack of new Trek sometime in the next two weeks.

Also, Dreamwidth, eh? I keep hearing about it and the "wow" factor you mentioned, so I assume it's pretty good? I'm curious, too, if you know: is the trend to crosspost (or at least relocate creative works), or are people just slowly switching over entirely? (Also - if you have a code and would like to bestow me with such a lovely gift, I will love you like someone that loves something a lot.)

And one more thing, if you have the chance. This is me requesting Merlin recs, if you know any good ones offhand? Or a Merlin rec community, or authors to check out in general, or something. Because, well, Merlin. Basically: YES.

So I tried to reply to your comment, and replied to my post instead, because I'm a genius. I really don't want to redo all the HTML in the comment, soooo .... I'm just going to link you to it. Ahahaha. Ha.

The Trek movie made me ridiculously happy, and if it weren't for the darned Merlin fandom, I would be all over their kink meme. (As it is, kinkme_merlin is taking over my life. *should be writing fic for it right now*)

The trend that I've seen for Dreamwidth is to crosspost, or to post fic at Dreamwidth unlocked, and link to it from LJ in miscellaneous posts. I also know of a couple of adventurous souls who jumped over entirely.

You are at the top of my list for codes! I don't have any, as I'm a new user, but when I get some, I'll let you know.

Finally: OMG MERLIN CONVERSION!!! I HAVE A HUGE SWEET-ASS FOLDER OF BOOKMARKS LIKE YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE. If I did a complete rec list, I would probably die of typing related injuries, but I will endeavour to pick out the essentials! (Or, you know, pick the stuff I've read most recently and is in my browser history.)

Everything by astolat, particularly The Crown of the Summer Court. I have no words for how amazing this story is. I've read it so many times I can quote parts of it.

Everything by seperis", ( ... )

Haha, oh wow. :D THANK YOU x A BILLION. (And I've actually read a good chunk of astolat's stuff, including Crown of the Summer Court, which was so, so good. So I guess at least I'm not completely lost when it comes to this, haha.)

Also, I haven't abandoned SGA, because it still owns most of whatever soul I have left (at least until the movie comes out and probably rips my heart to pieces). But I'm willing to double dip. Uh, yeah. There's no way that can sound not dirty, so I'm not going to try. XD Also, Merlin is, you know, continuing. Which is awesome. I've seen all of Merlin (I went on a bit of a bender and watched it all in probably two days a while back), but so far it's kinda been... eh. I didn't even know where to look. But now I do. YOU WIN. :D

I've made it a priority to go see Star Trek. I'm trying to convince a friend who's already seen it once to go see it again with me, so we'll see how that goes. And then I can waste the remaining time I don't have on that fandom. XD
